THAT chant being sold online.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I sent you an email earlier today about this item: http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download- ... oduct.html. Specifically about the 4th track and its digusting contents. I now notice that you have changed the name and taken away the option to listen on your website. This is a false way of disguising your disgusting behaviour and shows you still condone this type of abuse. I demand you take down the CD or at least the chant and issue a public apology to Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.

E-Mail sent to Play.com, MUFC and The Guardian - I was pleased to see the link for the latter as this is the only publication where I have seen criticism of the vile abuse

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008 ... ue-arsenal

In fact even old taggart had his say, but didn't do much good

Actually the criticism in The Guardian was in a report of the FA Cup semi defeat - the writer really laid into the united fans

Also sent this to the guardian

To whom this may concern,
Today, me and many fellow arsenal fans became aware of this CD on the Play.com website:http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download- ... oduct.html. The 4th track is a copy of the vile and disgusting chant: 'sit down you paedophile'. As i'm sure you're aware this song is commonly sung at Old Trafford and White Hart Lane at one of the best football managers to grace our game, Arsene Wenger. I beleive that paedophilia is one of the worst crimes possible to man and for a great man to be accused of this just because he manages a rival football team is downright disgraceful from a club who requested Manchester City fans to respect the munich commemorations at Old Trafford last year. I find it disgraceful how this chant has been overlooked by the media for so many years even though it can be heard very clearly in stadiums and on TV as upto 60,000 people chant it. I would like you to point out the condoning of this behaviour by this well-respected website and to show people that this sickening chant should not be tolerated. I believe it could be used in your 'Digger' column or in any other part of your newspaper in the coming days.
I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you clamping down on this behaviour through your newspaper.

IMO what play.com have done is disgracefull. To have this for sale is bad enough but then to try and hide it after receiving complaints is more or less saying we dont care and are standing by it

It's just 'Sit Down' now - like they think everyone will see it as a James cover...and there's the tedious 'Same Old Arsenal..' chant too

The media will do nothing of course. They were the ones who circulated those totally unfounded rumours in the first place, knowing they were totally unfounded. A great shame they never got what was coming to them for it, i.e. a libel case.

If you want to get a boycott going it might be worth trying to contact a few of the biggest Arsenal bloggers and see if they'll stick something up to get it to a wider audience.

I just e-mailed play.com. I mentioned the words SLANDER and POSSIBLE LEGAL REPROCUSSIONS. And the fact that they may alienate their customer base.

I doubt they will give a shit, since there are more mancs than Gooners.

However, if I don't see them taking this shit of the shelf, I will never EVER do business with them again. My small protest. Hope all Gooners do the same.

Why would you anyway? They've already a) made available the song for download, and b) tried to deceive us by changing the title to "Sit down".

Is that not enough of a pisstake? There's many competing sites that we can use instead.
