He's delivered a lot more than i expected especially so early on . Indeed up to two/three games ago was the seasons highlight along with Nasri's top form . Guy can only get better but that will only be possible with proper service whether that's in the unlikely increase of decent crosses (think Leighton Baines type deliveries ) or the Midfield or a Fit Van Persie operating behind him and supporting him in the correct manner . He's recently said that he didn't realise the physical enormities and differences in the Premiership and it's inevitable that it's going to take its toll at some stage especially in his first season . Have to give the guy time to adjust , i reckon he could be a very influential player for years to come .

I have thought that we should put in a cheeky bid for baines. Hes 26 so not too young to keep Gibbs out of the side for too long but he is a ready made replacement for Clichy and can defend, which is always good for a defender, and we could score so many goals from his crosses and he takes a good free kick too. Im hoping all of gibbs set backs are due to his injury that kept him out for a long time.Nick Bendtners Ego wrote:He's delivered a lot more than i expected especially so early on . Clichy clearly is not good enough but Gibbs is too injury prone to be first choice at the moment. So Baines would fit straight in and Gibbs could be eased into the team without too much pressure and we would have good competition for the left back spot.
(sorry for the usmartinesque post)
Chamakh says himself he's not up there with the very best strikers just yet....which sums this team up I guess...
Clichy is probably the first name Wenger put down on his team sheet every week. It will take Clichy 2 or 3 seasones of extremly poor performances before Wenger would consider doing anything else...

About a month ago I first mooted the opinion that chamakh had gone off the boil somewhat and I see further evidence of that in every game since. However what I also said is that it is normal for a player not used to be playing in our league with it's 100 mile an hour physical style (
) to suffer some drop off a few months into their 1st season as fatigue sets in so from that end of things I am prepared to cut him some slack now.
What I will also say though is that this drop off might also be as a result of teams knowing how to negate him more now after seeing film of his games and that would be a worry of course. It should also be said that the tippy tappy football we play is not suitable to any target man

Last night he was pathetic. Where this myth comes from that he works hard and is a fighter comes from I don't know? More bollocks from Comical Wenger.
Ian Wright worked hard and was a fighter, would you honestly compare this garbage player to Wrighty? Not a chance.
There is about as much fight and work ethic in this guy as wet paper bag.
I'll get torn apart for this post but again, he was hyped as a tough fighter and with an incredible work rate like Tevez or Rooney.
What a load of shite, he is nearly as lazy as Adebyor and up for a fight? What a laugh, he didn't even celebrate vs the y**s as a supposed life long fan.
Chamakh was a joke last night, wasn't even bothered to close down or anything .
He's like Adebayor in that way, also clumsy on the ball.
Why do people like you keep bringing the nationality of a poster into their debates ? Whether a poster or fan is Irish, Brazilian or whatever it should not matter a jot in the same way race or religion is irrelevent too

I think he could do with a rest, I know we're playing Stoke and we could with his aerial ability and strength but I think Van Persie could handle it and I'd like to see us play him and Bendtner up top with Walcott and Nasri on the wings and Jack or Cesc and Song in midfield.goonersid wrote:Could he also be feeling under a bit of pressure with van persie coming back into the squad?
I would sit him down and tell him "not to worry that it won't be long until van is back on the sidelines"

Agree totally, he done really well considering he has only stepped in to our league this season, and ceratinly given us other attacking options.AA23Northbank wrote:Agreed, I think Chamakh has been one of the few positives this seasonIW8Goalmachine wrote:he has been playing almost every game since arriving into a far more physical league i think the guy needs some slack here.

What a complete waste of space this thread is....having a go at Chamakh, ive seen it all now! The lad has made a more than decent start to life Arsenal, weighed in with a good number of goals, works hard, excellent in the air and holds the ball up really well, anyone claiming he is lazy or cant hold it up simply hasnt watched him play.
Irish Gooner you are talking absolute shite here, and going on the amount of pople disagreeing with you here hopefully you will be able to see that!
