WENGER ATE MY HAMSTER

Post by Herd »

Why does every thread descend in to obsessive Anti Wenger Vitriol ?

I'm as pissed of as anybody with things at the club but we still have time to buy some quality ,and who knows if the delay in the Nasri,Cesc sales hasn't been because we have lined up some quality replacements ?( OK I'm dreaming)

Like it or lump it Wenger has kept us in the top 4 with minimal funds spent .
I wont get involved again in whether he had the money and wouldn't spend it or that he never had the money to spend because it sets people off and further entrenches peoples views.

Yes he has made some serious mistakes in man management and team tactics , but I very much doubt if ANY other Manager in the World could have done as much with so little.

This season is it for me it's I want to see us move forward not slowly slide and if we cant we will have to start again from scratch with a new man.

It can take many years to get back what you have lost ,we went from 71 to 89 before winning the league again, was a long long time and a lot of heartache but was ultimately worth it.

What I fail to understand though is the wankers who post on here that they want to see us fail in order to achieve their goal of sacking the manager .
Ive lost count of the amount of people who post this sort of shit and am baffled by anyone who calls himself Arsenal doing so .

The immediate future inst all roses but fuck me a ball hasn't even been kicked but some of you have spent the entire summer on here spilling bile from every pore willing us to sink into the mire just so that your Apocalyptic prophecies can come true .

Not long to go now lets see how it pans out eh ?

This is the basis of your faith in AW. And this is what I am very very sceptical of. The money is there AW is just too stubborn/entrenched in his position to spend it.

I'd agree with you if it weren't for the fact that Gazidis et al constantly say they want the club run on the self sustaining model. How do we know that Wenger hasn't asked them to increase Nasri's wages to what he wants but been refused? Indeed, if you look at Gazidis' comments at the latest meeting, he again talked about holding onto key players but eventually reaching a point where you have to balance this against the financial demands of the player.

This, along with various other statements about how the directors and Kroenke believe that the club should be based on the self sustaining model, would surely hint that it is the ethos of the club and not just the doings of a stubborn french man.

I was trying to leave aside the hows and whys of the weakness of the squad out for a change .

But the weakness is his fault!! It's like if I crash into your car, then pay for your repairs, you don't say "That was nice, he paid for the repairs", you say "That fool crashed into my car, it caused me loads of stress and I couldn't use my car for ages, and my premiums STILL went up"..

This is an interesting quote - where Wenger was outstanding was winning the 98, 02, and 04 titles - he came 1st with the 2nd/3rd highest spend in the league (wagebill + transfer spending)

Now in the last 4 years, our wagebill (currently on £110m) has been 3rd / 4th highest in the premiership - that reflects our league position and is not an over achievement.

Now where Wenger has been exceptional is in the transfer dealings- he has always managed to sell off the best players for massive profits, reinvesting in good replacements often turning out even better than the players they replaced. But now he is starting to not even bother with with getting in adequate replacements, while still selling off the best talent we have to line his own pockets. This is a real worry - wage bill still really high, and with Liverpool speculating and showing ambition we could end up finishing 5th with a manager being paid the highest salary. All this with the highest ticket prices in Europe.

It's all because of him, and that's why he has gone from legend to *word censored* in most member eyes here.

Wenger did tell the truth though didn't he. he said that this would be a busy summer in the transfer market. It has been! Everyone has fucked off!

Now there are rumblings about Arshavin too!

I think if anything happened there then RVP would go too. I'm surprised he hasn't put in a request already.

And this is before I start on his pig-headed stubbornness and lies.

How long did he stick with Almunia when everyone that watches football could see he was a liability? And with the collapse of the team at the end of last the season with everyone pointing the finger at the defence, and Wenger telling us (before season ticket renewal time) that he will be very active in the transfer window...

Every reason to call him a *word censored* and treat him as such. I'm an Arsenal fan, not an Arsene fan. You would have though he would have been so hurt with he dismal collapse last season that he would have set aside his obsession with profiteering and try to remedy he situation but no... He goes on holiday and makes sure he protects his £7m... After all, he doesn't get paid for the team performance does he!

Hmmm, we've all got the pleasure of that transfer merry-go-ground next summer....

Are we really fussed about losing these 2? We all wanted change but what bothers us is how he's gone about it, waiting until the end of the summer and not doing his business early on.

IF he gets out and spends all the 60m on the players we need he can really freshen up the side which is what we all want.

However he must buy the CH and at least one marquee signing.
And go and get Scott Parker!!

IF he actually had the heart and conviction to spend that £60m to strengthen the team I would be the happiest person here. This is an opportunity to really rebuild the side, and to get us back on track, but as we have come to expect from a manager that gets paid on the basis of profits not performance, we dont have a chance in hell that this money would be reinvested.

Big opportunity missed. Thanks to Wenger & the AKB brigade
