Apparently we bid 6mil for Cahill
The fact that Cahill only has a year left on his contract is interesting, but surely not the most critical thing here. After all, we're buying the player, not his contract!
How much do we think he is worth to us NOW? £15m? Then that is what we should be prepared to pay as a maximum. That's what Citeh effectively did over Nasri.
Ok, you can try to call Bolton's bluff on the basis that they'll get nowt in 12 months time. But when Cahill is available for free then we won't get him anyway as someone else will offer higher wages. And we need him now - not in 12 months......
There must be a figure somewhere between £6m and £15m on which the clubs can agree......but the deal needs to be done now. Not January, and certainly not next summer!

Utterly shameful behaviour from Arsenal.
Just to put in perspective - we put in a bid of £6m which is around what we got for Clichy. A valuation less than what we would sell Bendy for
I cant understand - why on earth bid such a stupid amount? Was it to deliberately insult Bolton, the player, and Arsenal fans? If we didnt want the player, we should not bid at all!

We have £70m to spend but we are haggling over a few million like we did with Alonso and Schwarzer.Blackburn put a price of £16m on Phil Jones.Fergie didnt argue over the price he just paid it and got his man.

We fucked about all last summer over the Mark Schwarzer transfer - for the sake of what amounts to small change for a club like Arsenal. And then we missed out.
If Wenger is serious about wanting Cahill then offer Bolton a reasonable amount, don't take the piss out of them. He looks like a good, solid, defender that is comfortable in the EPL - just what we've been crying out for.
IF - and it's a very big IF - Wenger can bring in 2 or 3 experienced players like Cahill, this will be a big step in the right direction but FFS Arsene conduct yourself like Fergusmoan does - identify the players we need, pay the money and get them integrated into a winning squad.
Get a few big, strong defenders in and maybe we'll stop getting f**ked over and losing valuable points to teams like Stoke

If reports are true then Arsenal have plumbed new depths. There comes a point when people look at you as a mickey mouse club and we're heading that way.
It's all about supply and demand. City wanted Clichy, we didn't particularly want to keep him so sold for a reasonable fee. We 'want' Cahill, along with quite a few other clubs potentially so Bolton are not going to sell for anything less than 12m I would think. We ought to stick in a bid of 14m now and say it's our 1st (or 2nd)! and final offer. If we piss them off by raising the offer by 500k every day they'll laugh it off till the deadline passes and we're fooked.
Now is NOT the time to worry about the odd few million, needs must and we need big time!!
