Can't help but feel that RVP and his agent seriously misjudged the level of interest shown by top clubs to sign him when they came out with that statement. They must have been expecting a bid from Real or Barca. I don't think he intended to join United but given City and Juventus were the only other clubs in for him neither he or Arsene had much choice. I think he could and would have gone to City if they came up with a better offer, the italian league and juve might not have been the most appealing of destinations, so United it was.

Totally agree with you disgraceful to sell him to manure but apparently he didnt want to go to city or juve so the choices were manure, or stick him in the reserves for his last year, or and this is arsenals favourite take the money because we are not a club interested in trophies its all about the dollar.IMO if wenger was so reluctant to sell him to manure why didnt he just tell the pr bullshitter ivan and stayaway stan, ill resign if he is sold to manure but i suppose when it comes down to it, principles go out the window when you earn allegedly 7m a year.

That's what some people have said but as far as I'm aware he's gone to United because Juve and City didn't get near the asking price.

I don't like selling players for profits any more than you do, but keeping a disillusioned selfish childish wanker who would probably become disruptive for a season instead of taking £24m for him doesn't make sense to me, regardless of the fact it may strengthen United. At the end of the day money in the bank isn't going to win you any points whatsoever, but the money we've paid out for 3 very promising players was going to be recouped somewhere, better to be a player who doesn't want to be here than have to sell somebody else next year. (And yes, before you say it would be better to sell the dross we all know exists at our club or to fund the transfers with on-field success but that's not going to happen is it?).

we dont make huge profits. we make small profits and that is only yhr case when u take into account player trading. (i mean selling)

if we didnt make big money on sales every year we would not turn a profit, we would turn a significant loss.
imo this completely undermines our model. the model is crap it really is. if it were good, we would be turning a profit excluding play tradfing activity. i dont believe we do.
