Only thing is Sunderland are boring as fuck whereas Wigan might turn up and give us a game. This year's 0-0 borefest with the Mackems justified Category C, whereas at least the fans got to watch some decent football last year against Wigan. Even if it was all coming from the away team.VoiceOfReason wrote:There was a mini-feature on SSN earlier about our ticket pricing, and it irked me that the media keeps quoting this £62 figure, without even mentioning that this is the cheapest ticket available - I wish they'd make note of the £82+ tickets, because it would cause even more of a stir (and a rightly warranted one, too).
They also went through which teams were in which grades - I was shocked that Wigan is a Grade B whereas Sunderland is a Grade C. Arsenal vs. Sunderland is a classic English football fixture, whereas Wigan are a small club with no history and 20 fans. I've nothing against Wigan per se, but I just found it rather odd.

You can have a 0-0 borefest with any team. Wigan should be nowhere near Sunlun in terms of billing. And like the op I've nowt against Wigan but Sunlun are much, much "bigger club"northbank123 wrote:Only thing is Sunderland are boring as fuck whereas Wigan might turn up and give us a game. Me too, my response was this -
Trouble selling out David, no suprise is it ?
Tell Arsene and the board to invest in the team for a change and stop treating our loyal fans as complete mugs and you will be suprised how a little bit of hope in our team's fortunes (which has been all but eroded) will bring the supporters back to spend their hard earned money like the mindless sheep that the current "custodians" have trained them to be.
Good luck in selling for the rest of the season.
I'm guesing that I won't get my mug on a flag flying over a bridge named after a well paid director anytime soon

Sky and most of the media couldn't give a toss about the £82+ tickets.VoiceOfReason wrote:There was a mini-feature on SSN earlier about our ticket pricing, and it irked me that the media keeps quoting this £62 figure, without even mentioning that this is the cheapest ticket available - I wish they'd make note of the £82+ tickets, because it would cause even more of a stir (and a rightly warranted one, too).

Arsenal fans aren't even a thought, the story here is Arsenal Football club are terrible ripping off all those poor fans whilst the rest of the league charges a bag of sweets and a smile to Arsenal fans for an away game.

Interesting if "heavy" article in today's Observer comparing the PL economic model with the German.

While I agree about the ticketing prices issue I still found myself arguing with shitty fans after the game as they were singing the 'your team is shit and you charge too much' song. Between them and chavski they are pushing the game out of reach from the average fan than any other clubs.armchair supporter wrote:

Don't know why I allowed myself to argue with them after all we are shit and do charge too much

It is ridiculous but away tickets up there for big teams aren't really much cheaper. Especially when you factor in that everything costs substantially more in London, people forget football tickets naturally would as well.
They're champions of England, they're the ones who have profited from paying players £200+k/w and tens of millions in transfer fees on some average players. I agree with the scoffing at the price but not huge sympathy with their fans, they're no different than the other Cat A fans. I have far more sympathy with Mousers who have to pay £62 to watch TWO poor sides.

Just because their club is filthy rich doesn't mean they are as well. They are just average people who support their club like the rest of us.Goose wrote:While I agree about the ticketing prices issue I still found myself arguing with shitty fans after the game as they were singing the 'your team is shit and you charge too much' song. Re: Ticket Pricing - Fans have had enough!
They are, but that is a price that comes with success. Don't remember fans of other PL clubs moaning about City fans got cheap tickets when they were travelling to dumps in Div 3.
Besides, the reason we are able to (try and) justify such high prices is somewhat down to the money that their club has injected into the game. Like it or not throwing more money round at the top eventually filters down. Them and Chelsea in particular throwing the money around in the last decade means that the average wage everywhere has been shifted up significantly. To fund £140m a week in wages, which is what you have to be looking at now to compete in PL thanks largely to them and Chelsea (disregard the fact that we waste most of that), you need to charge pretty expensive tickets.
And besides, they pay it once a season. We pay it every fucking week, it's far more of a travesty that the club is ripping us off than visiting fans.

"They've paid £62 over there, go and see them!"
What lino told City stars after Emirates win... while furious supporters stage protest over Arsenal ticket prices. (Daily Mail)
I watched it on a dodgy stream, but at the end of the match it seemed that the ref was scowling (when doesn't he though?) and barked at the lino to "wait there."
Now I see why.
Can't see anything wrong with it myself, those players should automatically go and thank their supporters.

Bayern has season tickets (standing) for 120€ and (seating) for 300€, Dortmund 187€ (standing) and 365€ (seating) though and I don't get the feeling they are worse than any team in the Premiere Leaguenorthbank123 wrote: To fund £140m a week in wages, which is what you have to be looking at now to compete in PL thanks largely to them and Chelsea (disregard the fact that we waste most of that), you need to charge pretty expensive tickets.

Re: Ticket Pricing - Fans have had enough!
How are the German clubs funded? It's well known how low their ticket prices are compared to over here but Bayern seem to be able to compete in the transfer market. Is it down to individual TV rights?kite wrote:Bayern has season tickets (standing) for 120€ and (seating) for 300€, Dortmund 187€ (standing) and 365€ (seating) though and I don't get the feeling they are worse than any team in the Premiere Leaguenorthbank123 wrote: To fund £140m a week in wages, which is what you have to be looking at now to compete in PL thanks largely to them and Chelsea (disregard the fact that we waste most of that), you need to charge pretty expensive tickets.![]()

Let us not forget they got their stadium for free, we soft southerners paid for most of it in tax no doubt, if we had our current and retrospective stadium debt handed back to us I wager the board would knock a tenner or so off them northern monkey's tickets. crunts of the highest order.
I have been away to that place when they had goater up front and the place was half full for a weekend game vs the mighty Arsenal who had Henry in the line up, so they can fuck right off, the home tickets must have upwards of £70 that day as nobody could afford them

I found this official list of the 2010/11 season http://www.fcbayern.telekom.de/media/na ... 010_11.pdfSkooner wrote:How are the German clubs funded? The turnover was 290,9m€ split into:
104.5m from the game (as I understand that's the money from tickets, CL etc), 82.3m from sponsoring, 39.2 from TV rights, 7.1 from transfers (that number doesn't include the money they spent), 43.9 from merchandising and 13.9 from other matters. (2011/12 the turnover was 373,4m)
Of course they profit from being the best team in Germany and one of the best in Europe (though the same could be said about Manchester United and they even get more money from TV rights and still they charge far higher prices for their tickets than Bayern)
Too late now, will write the rest tomorrow
