As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes, and I remember when he put his car up for auction when Rocky died to raise money for charity. Suffice to say the car was not a run of the mill Punto and raised thousands! Sounds a shocking bloke.
Fair play to him for that, doesn't alter the fact that he's a first class *word censored* and will always be.
Always gives it large to Arsenal fans whenever Chelsea score against us as well.

Maybe it's being overly simplistic but Calamity Clichy and his brainfuck in 2008 still haunts me. My gut tellls me if we'd won at Birmingham (which we would have only for than mong ) we'd have gone on to win the title. Without doubt the most traumatic league game watching The Arsenal for me.
Would defiantly agree that we lost a title there that day. But there were many factors involved, for one I don't think it was a penalty. Clichy touched the ball and the Birmingham player went over his foot. Flamini knocked the ball to Clichy which at that time of the game he should have been putting his foot through it and clearing it unceremoniously. Adebayor should have squared the ball to Bendtnar when two on one on their 'keeper. But Adebayor and Bendtnar were not best of buddies and the pass was never going to happen. Gallas should have galvanized the team after the criminal assault on Eduardo, instead he showed what a after the penalty was awarded. We were only four points off the Champions that season but the points lost at Birmimngham and the subsequent games because of the fragilities after Birmingham would have had us comfortable champions.
This ^.
There were many factors that year (Not least of which was Wenger not strengthening in January to cope with late season injuries and loss of form/tiredness etc) but if any one player was more to blame than any one else it has to be Captain Me, Myself and I - William Gallas. Never seen such a spineless cowardly display as he put on that day at Brum.

Not having a pop at you here Mackem (and I know I'm generalising your post), but I never understand this line of defence. Other people cheat on their wife so he is not wrong for cheating on his wife? Pol Pot (Cuntley Cole) wasn't that bad because Hitler (ChavTerry) was far worse? For me Pol Pot was still a kaaaaant!!
That's not what I'm saying though, I'm not saying he isn't a bit wrong for cheating on his wife, I'm saying that it is a very minor transgression in the grand scheme of things and that the amount of stick he gets for it is hugely disproportionate. Shit loads of the people who boo Ashley Cole will have done the exact same thing, he's a footballer not an angel, I couldn't give a fuck if he shags around and I don't see why anyone would, especially football fans who (to generalise as well) are often loutish pisshead lads who'd shag anything that moves, he's free to sleep with whoever he wants and I don't think its anyone's business to moralise about it.
Equally if this is one of his "worst" misdemeanors then I don't understand why the booing for him in particular, shit loads of footballers cheat on their women, why aren't they booed as well? For the amount of abuse he gets you'd think he was doing worse than just being unfaithful to his wife!
I suppose that's where we disagree then. I don't agree with and could never justify cheating on my wife and just because other morons do it doesn't make it less of an offensive cowardly thing to do in my eyes.
Also, it's not just this issue. It's the whole package with Cuntley - the cheating on his missus, the lying, the touting behind my club's back, the shooting a kid with an air rifle, the "Fuck you I'm speeding" attitude, the knobbing a bird and puking on her and in her car and gaff, the going on the piss 3 days before the CL final with ChavTerry and Fat Fuckpard.
You should read his "book".
He's basically a fucking toe rag arsehole. And I'm sorry to anyone that has mentioned his "great work for chaaaarrrriiiitttyyy" but I put absolutely no credance in a rich person making very public donations to charity. That's self publicising bollocks.

Pretty much agree with what bradywasking says here.
I knew after that Birmingham game we'd blown it, it's the one time since we moved when I've genuinely thought we could win the league and you knew what was going to happen after that.
It wasn't a penalty, never ever ever ever (notwithstanding Clichy's stupidity) - he quite obviously got the ball which is forgotten by everybody in the grand scheme of things. We were also denied a stonewall penalty before that when a defender pulled Adebayor back by his shorts - it would have been comical had it not been so costly, and as said above Adebayor blew another chance through selfishness and arrogance.
Clichy's mistake cost us but the damage was already done with Eduardo's leg break - it's not Clichy's fault Adebayor was knackered due to having too much responsibility up front and had an inevitable barren spell and it's certainly not Clichy's fault that van Persie was doing his Straw Man routine and only appeared 15 times in the league that season.

Fair enough mate. For what its worth I'd never cheat on me lass in a million years, no chance, I just think that if people were booing him mainly for having done it they'd spend a hell of a lot of time booing professional footballers because he is far from the only one to be guilty of it, his is just the most high profile example of it (Rooney's granny shagging aside) because of his status and that of his lass. I suppose he has done a few other things that contribute to him appearing not to be the most likable of characters mind, but on the whole I can't get too annoyed at him when there's genuine scum like Barton, Terry, King and Hughes about in the game, Cole would be well down my list of "he's a *word censored*" players.
Anyway, he doesn't seem too likable a lad away from football but then many other footballers are probably arseholes as well, they just don't get as much publicity. On the pitch he's always been class, he's always sounded like a nice, quiet, professional bloke when interviewed and he's always been mint for England (unlike many who cry off with "injuries" all the time) so I love the lad anyway

I suppose when compared to Jailed thug-cum-renaissance man, Not proven in court racist-backhander-tour-coke-selling-dad, Brutal sex beast & death by dangerous I suppose Cole doesn't seem as bad.
(I hope none of the above descriptions are libellous)
The thing is FTM, football is tribal and Mr Tweedy is about as low as one can be to a gooner.
Wilshere a diamond! Walcott's picked up a knock! Why always our players? Used to be Judas Van Persie all the time, wish it would be now! Broken leg would be good.
