Liam Brady To Step Down/Joncker In

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Bring back Paddy Viera- what say you?
Would rather have Dennis.

That and I don't think Viera wuld leave his nice wage packet at City.

.....Legend my arse  (Regarding Paddy not Liam)
As I see it Vieira does nothing at City. He's not even a figurehead - they just send him round the country to charity events etc like a hapless diplomat and occasionally he may give a few comments on general issues that will be reported. He is of no importance to them and would offer us nothing.

Looks like Bergkamp is working really hard and is really dedicated to becoming a manager. I hope he doesn't try and jump into taking a managerial job too early on because I'd love him to succeed. Of course I'd rather this be at Arsenal but I would pay good money to watch one of Bergkamp's teams play in years to come if they have the tiniest imprint of his class. Being able to watch him play one more time is worth a million Virtual Trophies.

Not sure how the fact that Vieira is used purely as a 'figurehead' by Man City necessarily equates to him not having anything to offer us? :? :?

I meant to say we have no need for a Vieira in his current role at the club as we have enough people plundering the fans' money with a false sense of importance.

As head of the academy, who knows? But given that he's opted to become a 'football development executive' over doing coaching badges and gaining experience hardly makes him an outstanding candidate. I would be amazed if Wenger appointed him personally (we all know he's the one who'll make the decision).

What exactly is brady's roll at the club ? :? I assumed that he oversee's the coaching structure as opposed to actually coaching the kids himself so in that regard PV4 should be quite suited for that role no ? Again I am only guessing but would travelling to watch kids and persuading them to sign for us be another aspect of the job ? If so would Bergkamp's inability to travel by plane be an obstacle in him taking the job ?

Why the anti-Vieira vibe?

Remember Brady left us for Italy at the peak of his career, Vieira left when he was starting to go downhill.

Purely subjective, but as good as Brady was, Vieira was the best midfielder to ever play for us.

See no reason why both Bergkamp and Vieira should not be involved with coaching or managing us someday.

Nick Bendtners Ego wrote:Remember Brady on RTE a few years back with other members of the grumpy old men's club, Giles, Dunphy etc. They were asking him about the next great Irish hope that may emerge from The arsenal that may benefit the Irish international set up whilst obviously lamenting about the talent from the past. Brady bigged up one young guy that was setting tongues wagging and had 'very high hopes for' . Said he was the most promising Irish player they had in years, went by the name Anthony Stokes :? Very wrong unfortunately . File under 'What were we thinking ' ....( slash/Tosser for that matter). Hopefully who ever fills the position is left with some unpolished gems and we won't be just looking at Wiltshire and Gibbs as his legacy.
Stokes is no superstar but he has made a name for himself in Scotland. He was never good enough to make it for Arsenal but he was a decent product of the youth system...which has failed US so amny times....rember JE-T?

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Paddy back in a coaching role at the club sooner or later and he is one of the best players we've ever had but I don't hold him in such high regard as most Gooners do. He was always too keen to jump ship given the chance.

Great player, not a legend.

Happy Birthday Chippy 57 today.. :D :D :D :D :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

On one of the few occasions I spoke to Brady he told me Anthony Stokes was missing something and would not make it, but watch out for Nick Bendtner coz he is the real deal. That was January 2006. One right and one very much wrong I think. Stokes didn't make it as such and Super Nick wasn't really so super after all.

Beg to differ.
He played for us for nine seasons.

He thought of leaving a couple of summers before he did, but did not until 2005.
Since then we have not won anything.
