It still dumbfounds me that our teams from 98-06 didn't win it at least once and only got to one final. :( :|

And yes, all you Jens lovers, I still blame Lehmann for the 06 and 04 losses against the Whores and the chav$ respectively. Headless fucking clown that he could be on the big occasion. :x

The league is our bread and butter - and it has been too long since we won it, but I'd love to win the (Be All and End All) CL - Not that we'll ever do it with Wenger as manager, making European matches pointless as long as he is here.

Generally speaking, I've always been more interested in domestic trophies than European ones - probably because, when we had season tickets back in the 90s, I'd usually go to the league games at the weekend while my (older) brother would stay out late for the midweek European games. So I was slightly distanced from it, to an extent.

Also, was it Andy Gray that used to babble on about league football being your 'bread and butter'? I always took that to mean that the PL is the truest indicator of your standing in the game, because it's 38 games and you can't hide faults or luck your way into a title. It really is the best reflection of where you're at, as a club.

Thus, I'd be inclined to say that I'd rather we get our house in order domestically first. Let's focus on being the best team in this country, and then once that's achieved, we can use that as a springboard for success against the real big clubs in Europe. For me, the CL is like the cherry on the cake, but without the actual cake itself - i.e. domestic domination - then it would still really just be a 'quick fix': as has been mentioned, Liverpool won the CL in 2005, but it didn't really help them the following season(s), as they were the same old top-six side that they were when they won it. Yes, their fans have great memories from Istanbul, but wouldn't you exchange a great one night affair for a long, successful marriage?

However, having said all that, I voted for the CL. I decided that because we're a million miles away from getting our house in order domestically, and I can't see us moving forward in the longer term for a long time to come - so we may as well just spunk our wads in May and take the trophy, just like Liverpool did. It wouldn't be a marker for any kind of domination for coming years, but it would fix the glaring omission in our trophy cabinet.

The PL is the bigger trophy, win it and you're definitively the best team in the country. You can fluke a CL title whilst being far from the best in the country never mind the continent. That being said for Arsenal, I'd imagine you'd rather win the CL since its the one that has got away and is the one major hole in the trophy cabinet

Completely agree. Don't understand why they would even rebrand it to the "Champions" League.

I want our first CL win to be defending champions of England as part of a League and CL Double similar to Farca's in '06 and '11 and Manure's in '08. For me it's only then can you claim to be the best in Europe.

CL it's not even close. In my time supporting Arsenal we have won the First Division/PL 5 times, most spectacularly in 2004. How do you improve on going a season undefeated.

Then in Paris, Henry clean through on goal (I still have nightmares about that miss), if ever there was a moment that has defined our fall in grace it's this one. We moved to the Emirates the following season and haven't competed in the league or CL since.

So as an Arsenal fan, the CL completes the set for me. I've seen them win everything else pretty much.
