"I wish the Queen had died the night before the Royal Jubilee—I wish she'd just f--king died. But they wouldn't have been able to tell us that she'd died. They would have had to hollow out her body and get that guy who plays Gollum to wear it."goonertux wrote:Agreed - Frankie Boyle is a top man. Frankie Boyle can be really funny - but imo too much of what he says is shocking just for the sake of it. I don't find him offensive - just don't find it funny when he ditches his wit just to try and be as offensive as he can.

He's the only comedian prepared to say what a lot of us think, particularly when it comes to Z-List 'celebrities'. Also, the Royal Family are fair game as far as I'm concerned. Get over it, either watch him and enjoy or turn off.

Mock the Week is a piss poor imitation of itself without him on there ripping the piss out of Katona and Jordan and other shitebag Z-listers.

Absolutely... he IS genius...As far as (so called) comedy and comedians in the UK (at least those I've seen/heard) he is one of those comedians to who NOTHING is sacred/off limits, unlike so many of the play safe and get paid an absolute shed load of wonga for making the sheeple laugh on ultra-sanitised entertainment(NOT!) programmes.goonertux wrote:He's the only comedian prepared to say what a lot of us think, particularly when it comes to Z-List 'celebrities'. Frankie Boyle and Mark Thomas are the only UK 'Comics' I know that are worth a moment of air time.

Bill Bailey is a very good, clever comedian. I like 'shock' comedy, but it's not the only genre - in fact, there's a lot of cheap laughs in ripping people to shreds, and it's not always clever.OneBardGooner wrote:[

Billy Connolly was also very good. As is Peter Kay and Ross Noble. These 3, along with Bill Bailey, are very good comedians who don't often cross the line into nastiness that Frankie Boyle is famed for.
In fact, I think there's definitely a place for Lee Evans who is also very funny. Then there's Alan Carr (stand up, not C4 work), Eddie Izzard and Stewart Lee. I even think Russell Brand, who although a dick, is a very intelligent, clever stand up.
British comedy is diverse, and I'd give them all air time.
I do like Frankie Boyle though

Re: Grumpy Git - things that "literally" get on my tit
I have a real problem Russell Brand appearing on shows like Question Time etc. He sits there scratching his bollocks and looking extremely bored and disinterested, when there's a question on drugs he jumps in but his valid perspective is then buried underneath him doing his best to over-articulate, wildly gesticulate and generally speak like a fool. When the subject of banking regulation came up he stuttered (and this is very close to an actual quote and not a misrepresentative paraphrase) that lots of people lost their jobs and houses during the financial collapse; bankers generally did not; and therefore they are criminals and should go to jail.g88ner wrote:Bill Bailey is a very good, clever comedian. Did anybody actually watch him in front of the Select Committee? The BBC and papers loved it because there were a few wisecrack quips in there, but in fact he wasted his chance to really get the perspective of a drug addict across and actually make a difference by wasting the whole appearance making endless jokes about things like Theresa May's timekeeping.
Russell Brand is certainly not one of the more intelligent comedians around.
