Do you like your job?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You don't work in a Safari Park, by any chance ?
No, I drice past London Zoo everyday and the giraffe is always looking over the fence - what with his neck and all, he probably doesnt have much choice

Quite like my job. I was in Construction (structural steel and firestopping)for about 17 years (2nd half of which spent as a site manager). I did the career change thingy in 2005 and went into the Irish civil service. I was lucky in that I ended up recruiting for the government (psychologists for the health service and and crime analysts for the cops and economists for think tanks). Work was varied and very high pressure (but in a good way).

Recently got promoted and transfered into our Research and Business Development Unit with a remit to re-market the entire civil service and save everyone's jobs buy developing new business!!!

Haven't got a fucking clue how we'll do that... :?

Mines pretty boring but have recently been accepted into the Met Police to become a Communications Officer (dealing with 999 calls). Cant wait for that but may mean missing quite a few games :?

Ex Royal Navy now in IT

Post by maddog »

Did 22 yrs & 23 days in the RN which was generally ok but detested the last 7 or 8 years. ( stuck it for pension, that's the only thing that kept me going) To be honest good days in HM forces are over, for multiple reasons! Certainly, in the RN over 90% of my former colleagues can't wait to leave the only reason they stay is for job security in a job they mostly now hate.

Now work in IT albeit not exciting but at the end of the day I have clean hands and my back doesnt hurt. I get to go home every night and wouldnt go back in the Navy even for a soccer players wages!
