Atmosphere plans for Pompey home

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

man u cl semi final atmosphere was good for 7 mins because it was a cl 2nd leg semi final agianst man u ffs

when are red action going to consult fans on what they are doing instead of just acceptin any old shit
Just to put you straight this is not REDactions idea, its the clubs, we have just been asked to try and find some volunteers.

Oh and we are always asking for feedback and new ideas and any that are sent into us are taken forward to the club if they have not been before.

We also held regular open meetings during last season for people to pitch up with ideas and will do so again this season.

If you've got ideas then let us know.
alanalan; I'm sure I don't need to tell you my opinion of this stunt. I am positive that people are aware of my feelings for redaction. But having said that I appreciate that some of you work bloody hard to try and liven the place up. I just feel a lot is misguided as you well know, but I have to hand it to you. You are always measured in your replies and comments (both here and elsewhere) and never seem to get pissed of with repeating yourself over and over again to mugs like me who deride you. Hats off to you mate.

Btw please get rid of the cringeworthy march or make it an occurrence at away fixtures. I am looking forward to your members marching in glasgow in front of the sweatys. (Am I getting boring yet re the march  )

ok fair enough
but as a voice of the fans could you not let the club no that this isnt really going to improve the atmosphere

ive spoke to you before about what i and mostg people think the club should be made aware of

1. proper anthem that we can sing along to
2. an increased 'singing section' not just one block but a number of blocks spread behind the goal

Im very much for the clock being put back in the ground, but it aint going to improve the atmosphere as much as getting like minded people sat in the same blocks

you pretty much explained tht you have tried but its not easy
i respect you for trying and coming on here and talking
but can you not do a thread or some way of communicating with the fans where you suggest ideas, or ideas that have been put forward to you and let people say what they think. I no your not going to get a general consensus off one thread but at least its putting it out there.
The scarfs are just a waste of money and time
To be honest our impression is that the club don't really expect it to be a real atmosphere raiser (sorry its late and my english is suffering). However they thought people might like them. Lets face it if they did nothing they would get criticised and have been on a regular basis so at least now they are trying something. It might not appeal to the likes of me and you and some others on here but it will appeal to some, mainly the youngsters no doubt.

Both your poins the club are fully aware of as we keep going back to those issues on a regular basis. there is some movement on the 'anthem' front and basically TWOYs days would seem to be numbered. However I would say is there any tune that we would all agree on? Maybe the concept of something completely new is the way forward?

The idea of getting more like minded people together is fine and we would love the section to be expanded all along the North End for instance. However I personally doubt that there is enough like minded people out there unfortunately. As far as I am aware the box offcie is not inundated with people asking to move nearer to the our section on a regular basis.

We will be trying to get more info out more regularly and in as many ways as possible. We now have our own message board plus the website. We are hoping to provide more copy for the gooner and also the club have said that they are quite happy for us to use the club website / programme / magazine if we want to. Of course we all do these things in our spare time so sometimes we do not get time to do everything but we are trying.

You boring never :D

Don't worry we will be in Glasgy in force, approx 2 coach loads travelling over from Edinburgh, could be fun.

I take your point about the march, but at home its just a bit of fun, not to be taken too seriously by anyone, although I think the lads from the potteries got a bit of surprise at the end of last season.

It is hard to recreate at away matches for obvious reasons, but you never know maybe one day.

Speak soon.

ok ive just seen that board, and the message on the main site
if u get any head way with the red action section at the other end will be real progress
an anthem its unlikely all will agree but if enough polls/people spoken to we can at least get a majority vote and im sure it will be better than elvis
my opinion is get one of the arsenal bands e.g. riders of the last night
to write a proper anthem, or go with good old arsenal
keep doinng your thing and one day we willl get a weekly atmosphere at that place (maybe)

i like the idea of having 'good old 'arsenal' playing when 'arsenal' are walking out to the 'arsenal' pitch in front of the 'arsenal' fans.

failing that

what was wrong with 'right here right now' -fatboyslim? that song still gives me goosepimple memories of the team walking out at highbury.

Fair play to those who did that! Seem to remember it was lots of old heads who helped them come unstuck. Now thats the sort of march I'm talking about

I never understood the fact that 57000 scarves means their will be a good atmosphere. Makes no sense.

This free scarves and flags bullshit is Chelsea all over and sadly we are becoming like them ie classless.
The amount of pisstaking and abuse we got for the 9 minute atmosphere against the Mancs was off the charts so why are we going down that road again?

This sadly sums redaction up, they think this is a good idea.
Why not go the whole 9 yards and get fan chants played over the speakers?
There was a good atmosphere against the Mancs because IT WAS A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI FINAL.

If you can't get an atmosphere going for that, then it'd be time to call it a day. With ir without a scarf.

Scarves don't make noise, fans do.

Lets have it right, the club don't give a fuck about atmosphere and are doing this so they can use it to show how much they care about the supporters. How about stop filling your pockets with our dough and signing some players. 60,000 scarves for fucks sake, i remember when we had a bit of class.

And as for getting 'volunteers' to put the scarves on the seats :duh: . How about getting some local kids to do it and giving them free tickets to the game? Maybe their worried tarquin from surrey might turn his nose up at someone from Holloway being put next to him.
