Atmosphere plans for Pompey home
Atmosphere plans for Pompey home
Just got this from REDaction
Hi all
So, not long to go until the proper season kicks off, and we need your help before our first home game.
1. We need some volunteers! For the Portsmouth game, the club have very kindly bought us 57,000 red and white scarves - one for every seat in the "home" part of the ground. We now need volunteers to help us get these onto the seats. This should be happening next Friday (21st August) - if you are free on that day, and are able to help, please let us know. 57,000 scarves means a big job, so the more people that are able to help, the better.
2. A scarf on every seat is only one part of kicking off the new season's atmosphere with a bang. You may have seen by now the plans for decorating the outside of the stadium, with something to make it look more "Arsenal". http://bit.ly/fBUVg We understand that this is just one of a few initiatives to "Arsenalize" the stadium - both inside and outside - that should also see a lot of changes in the lower tier concourses. This is something that a number of fans groups, including REDaction and AISA, have been campaigning for since we first moved into the stadium - so it is good news all round. Hopefully, the stadium will finally look and feel like the home of Arsenal - and we will keep campaigning for the return of the clock to complete the job.
So, if you fancy spending next Friday inside the stadium with thousands of Arsenal scarves, please let us know!

What on earth is the point of that ?
It's Portsmouth ! It's Summer (unless they're expecting a snowstorm) I can see the logic of the attempt to generate an 'atmosphere' for last years CL Semi and it worked - pity the players didn't get it but the fans did.
But what is the point of this ?????
If we signed a couple of decent players and had a team than many believed might go places this season, you would not need to generate- or try to generate - an artifical 'atmosphere', through gimmicks.
This smacks of a Mugabe birthday celeberation in Harrare.
When is Hill-Wood's birthday by the way ?

Are you surprised? After all, didn't Wenger once say: "We don't buy Super Scarves - we make them!!"franksav63 wrote:Agreed Mr G, they are of poor quality, aren't they?

I know everyone has there own different opinions on red action but i think it is good to see the club, listening to the fans and redaction doing something to try and improve the atmoshpere.
Like the game against man u in the cl last season, i thought the flags would look a bit stupid ,but the majoirty of people i heard from who managed to get a ticket to the game, actually said it improved the atmosphere for 7 minutes
I just hope i get a ticket to the pompey game

The only way to generate atmosphere is to have a team to believe in and give the support hope of actually challenging or winning something!!!!if i want gimmicks i go to Tesco's.
If Arsenal did listen to the fans we would have a section just for singing instead of bit in this section bit there, merchandise would be affordable and ticket prices would be on par with others no sorry a few scarves don't cover the cracks and make everything hunkiedaree in wengertown!!
