sir, with all due respect, you are the perfect example of a pessimist. i show a team with the craft and flair of fabregas, arshavin, nasri, arshavin, rosicky, the finishing and composure of eduardo, the defensive brilliance of vermaelen, sagna and gallas, and yet you don't think it is brilliant because there's and ageing (but once good, now only decent) leftback.
he is terrible going forwards, but against liverpoo he showed he has quality as a defender. he was one of the best players on the pitch that day, so i think he can do a decent defensive job.
we all hate him, be he is a decent cover player.

How about this line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation?:
Almunia
Sagna/Gallas/TV/Traore
Song/Denilson
Nasri/Cesc/Rosicky
Arshaven.
Now admittedly that would be a bold move and I know people are thinking that there's no out and out forward or someone to hold the ball up, but I figured that as we play the ball on the floor most of the time we won't need one. The two defensive midfielders will give the back four protection, especially when the full backs push forward, and they will be given instructions to win the ball and give it to the good players ahead of them. If they do that, I have enough faith in the others to create the chances and score the goals to get us a victory.

right, im off to bed ready for an early start tomorrow. Win, lose or draw i wont be able to get on after the match as i'm straight out on the piss but promise i'll show my face on sunday evening at some point to give my opinions and take whatever slagging is coming my way
Good luck lads, hope all who are going have a thoroughly enjoyable trip (apart from the result!)

Out of left field slightly I know but this would be my preferred line up -
fabinski
sagna gallas TV5 traore
nasri cesc song rosicky
AA23
the dude
I feel that today, especially early on, we need a more rigid shape until we get settled in the game and maybe then we can allow our more creative players to roam around. I know that arguement about playing sagna at left full and while I can understand it I still have to say that if you have 2 so called left backs (traore and tweety) then playing a right back in that position ahead of them makes no sense as it unbalances the team and suggests that you have no faith in the other 2 and if so why are they still at the club ??
