Should we make a cheeky bid for Jamie Vardy in Jan

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He's 29 in a month. Let's not pretend that isn't a major consideration

Hes hardly been run off his legs since 16 though which seems to be a major factor into why some players burn out, rather a romantic story isnt it, playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels for 3 years till 2010  , wasnt Wrighty 27 when we signed him though

Fully agree about the attitude over British players, FFS sems mad to me bringing so many 2nd rate overseas players when theres probably many gems like Vardy (Or Wrighty) plying their trade in lower leagues.

I didn't start this thread with the intention of suggesting Vardy as a long term buy, I am talking about our immediate need for a quality finisher someone who could win us the league with his goals.

Vardy at the moment is the best striker in the prem bar none, he is light years ahead of Giroud and Wally has yet to display finishing as clinical.

I didn't know his contract is up in the summer, I suggested £20m at the beginning of this thread but surely £30m would do it. It is inevitable he ends up at a top four club.

You'd pay £30m for a guy who's free in six months? Wenger wouldn't - no chance.

According to Leicester City, his contract expires in 2018.

That makes more sense; I hadn't seen anything in the press about his contract winding down.

Somebody will get stung for 25-30mil for an average player who has been on one great run.

Sadly Liverpool would have done it before Klopp.

Absolutely. I'd take him ahead of Cazorla every day of the week.

No.

If he were any good then our 24/7/365 world scouting network would have picked him up for a paltry £400k.

Why would we need Mahrez when we have Ozil plus a wealth of other attacking midfielders/wide men?? That's one area that we don't need strengthening.

Vardy in the meantime keeps knocking them in.

We have a ''wealth'' of attacking options that don't cut the mustard. Can you imagine Campbell or Chamberlain scoring a goal like Mahrez did yesterday? Would gladly take him over those 2 brainless wonders.

No as he wont work as well in our system. Watched him in last nights game and he's outstanding for Leicester in their 442, but will struggle to make an impact in our 42121 system

Someone will bid for him and some other players will attract attention too !
This will unsettle them and the skanks will implode .
7th Place beckons !
I hate these cants !
