SUMMER TRANSFERS - Your thoughts on who did and did not sign

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I wouldn't worry Swifty. You'll wake up to the same amount of signings when it does actually close.

We've signed as many players today mate as we have in the rest of the entire transfer window barring 2 days

That's because we work 'day and night' on it I assure you

He's a good player mate, I'd be happy for him to join us. However I hope it's not out only signing!!

Casillas and Ozil benched for today's match. Based on poll made by Marca, 63,7% would rather see Valdes in goal for Spain national team. He has to leave, there is no other option for him if he wants to play in Brasil (except Lopez injury but who can count on that).
Anyway if we could get him that would make my day. It will surely not be enough, but it will help :) As for Ozil, I don't really care, I've never rated him much and I think we can get better solutions.

Meanwhile Cesar is having a hard time getting in QPR team and that makes me wonder, did he become so shite that he does not play or Harry is keeping him out just to get rid of him and his massive wages. Or is he already ours and Wenker does not tell? :rubchin:

I've decided to believe Wenger for now.

I wanted a top class striker, and although I wanted a Higuain or Suarez, Wenger quite rightly said...
"We have signed Sanogo. He has not made the headlines. Why? Because he is not 50-100 million pounds."
So basically, it's only the price tag that separates Sanogo from players like Higuain, and we shouldn't be so obsessed by the price tag. Fair enough.

Remember, Wenger is blind to price tags... which presumably means he goes for the best player available, regardless of price. It just so happens, the best players on the market this summer are available for FREE! :D

In any case, Sanogo IS top class according to Wenger...
"He will not surprise me because my expectation level is very high. He is a top class striker."
Straight from the horses mouth. Sanogo is top class. :barscarf:

We should be delighted that we have a manager who is able to pluck a top class striker out of the arms of retiring to be a postman, so he can score the goals expected of a top class striker.

And whilst Sp*rs spunked £26m on Soldado, and Napoli wasted £34m on Higuain, and Monaco and PSG spent silly money on Cavani and Falcao, we got a top class striker FOR FREE!!!! - and we complain? crazy. :D

I'm sure I could write a similar post for our amazing top quality FREE transfer midfielder, Flamini. 8)

Top, top quality signed in 2 key positions, and not a penny spent! - I am one content, smug Gooner! :barscarf:

I can't believe anybody would be happy signing Cabaye (apart from Mike Ashley who is about to receive a bank balance boost by offloading Joe Average)

And the little gem can be traced back to the last time we tried to go for Mata and fucked it up

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfe ... 84656.html

“We have two markets: one is internal and one is external,” said Wenger. “Internal is the young players that we have - players who are inside the club are very important"

ONE ARSENE WENGER.......THERE'S ONLY ONE ARSENE WENGER

I don't have an opinion on him yet, as I've just not seen enough of him.

Pardew recently described Cabaye as "world class", whereas you've just said he's a "useless piece of French shite".

So based on those ridiculously polar opposite opinions of the same player, I can't say I trust anyone's assessment of Cabaye at the moment. I'll just have to make my own mind up if and when he starts playing for us.
