It's all bullshit. The deal is done. Just won't be confirmed until Uruguay's World Cup is over. Nothing to fret about.Jock Gooner wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 1:27 pmaugie wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 12:42 pmWho knows if it is true or not ?![]()

SSN reporting that the deal is still on but there is a hold up between the clubs. Money! Apparently no problems expected on Torreira's contract.

Calum Chambers will today sign a new 4yr contract with Arsenal to keep him there until 2022. Only signed 2yr extension in Oct 2017 that tied him down until 2021 but new head coach Unai Emery sees huge potential in 23yo + wants him to compete for starting berth at centre-back #AFC

Re: Transfers / players in / players out merged thread
I said a while back that IF the funds were there after addressing the higher priority needs, then I would like to see us sign a new left back - this lad is, in my opinion, one of the best up and coming left backs, and playing in the premier league will only add to that

I will be gutted if he goes to one of our rivals

Interesting to see that Ornstein (who many claim is the oracle when it comes to transfers) says that we are NOT in for banega
Nowadays it is too often hard to see the wood for the trees when it comes to transfer rumours, but I have to admit that I did believe that there was some merit to those rumours given emerys history with him - for the same reason I wondered about the nzonzi links, but I did think that the price was too high for a guy that age.

Have to be honest and say that the possibility of signing banega didn't do a whole lot for me (which seemed to wind up our own 1989
) - however when I see the ball that he put on messi's toe for his goal the other day, it was definitely a wow moment
I know even average players can sometimes hit a great pass, but that pass was way beyond that level imo. I always thought that he was a DM when I seen him, but from what I read that is no longer the case. Anyway it is all pie in the sky now cos Ornstein says that we aint interested in him

Think my previous assessment of banega was closer to the truth

Re: Transfers / players in / players out merged thread
Hmm i'd love for Emery or someone at the club to post on the oficial site something along the lines of this at the start of the season:
'This season here are the players we 'Actually', not 'Nearly', signed and them list them..... would be a refreshing change

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, 36, says Napoli have shown interest in him but the Czech veteran intends to stay at Emirates Stadium. (Calcio Mercato)

Will be happy assuming the Torreira deal goes through.
Nothing swashbuckling and no mega signings but we would have gone about getting some decent business done in areas which desperately need addressing - GK, CB and DM. I also think that Lichtsteiner is a really shrewd addition to the squad which is completely devoid of backbone and experience of winning leagues and big games.
I don't think anybody can reasonably say it puts us in serious contention for the title but equally I don't think we could have done too much more with the money available so far. Still hoping for more but I think it's quite encouraging - I get the impression that this bloke is going to set us up properly.
