Euros / Ingerland Hype

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Here's the thing though.... who do us neutrals "support" in the final....? :worried:

Normally, I'd cheer on almost any team against the filthy cheating diving Italians. As a footballing nation I despise them. I hate their decades of cheating, I hate their slow boring league. I absolutely hate Italian football and footballers. As people Italians are mostly lovely! :D

And given that England have Saka in the team I'd usually be leaning towards cheering them on. Back in the 80's / 90's when at various times England had Gunners like Sansom, Adams, Merson, Smudge, Wrighty, Seamo, Keown, Dicko and (very briefly) Nutty - I'm sure I've missed a couple! - in the team, I'd deffo be cheering on England. 8)

But now? The Diver in chief Fat Tongue who is also a scum player, uber-diver Scuba Grealish, Girlfriend Basher and Diver Sterling, the knacker Blockhead Maguire, ex-scum player Walker.... all very hateable players. :censored:

Add to this my intense, almost psychotic, dislike of the walking goalkeeping cliche and idiotic screaming schoolboy, Jordan fucking Pickford - and you can see my conundrum.... :D

I can imagine Carragher would have thought exactly the same if he was the player that was penalised for that challenge. Of course he wouldn't have gone apoplectic and got right in the ref's face shouting "he fùcking dived, I didn't touch him"

Always the fair player that accepted every decision against him.

Yep such a lovely honest bloke on the pitch. He also never spent most of his career wrestling players and sneakily pulling jerseys at set pieces you know!

Anyone would think that diving in English football is new . Francis Lee comes to mind.

I knew someone would try this old chestnut on....

Whilst it's true Lee liked a dive, what we are talking about is the amount of diving by many many players - to the extent that it ruins the sport.

I've seen Merse dive. Was he a Diver? No. I've seen Wrighty "win a penalty" by "being clever". Was he a Diver? No.

One or two players diving the odd time in English football back in the day is not the same as Italian, Spanish, and Argentinian football (and now the PL unfortunately) being unwatchable because of constant diving.... not even the same ballpark.

Anytime we talk about diving in the modern game someone pops up with "but remember that time Pires dived" or "such and such took a few dives back in the 70s" as if it justifies the modern propensity for regularly diving at almost every touch. It doesn't.

Diving was not widespread or commonplace until relatively recently in English football at both club level and international level. The first ones that were doing it regularly were Rooney and Gerrard.

The game becomes unwatchable and unlikeable when you see the likes of Fat Tongue constantly diving throughout a game. It's a cultural shift. Diving is now acceptable whereas in the past a player would get slaughtered for diving continuously.

I wonder how many dives the Belieber will get through in the 5 minutes he comes on the pitch for before getting subbed off again 8)

The pundits and "journalists" (AKA copy and pasters) should stop saying "simulation", "being clever", "having every right to go down" etc and call it what it actually is.

Cheating.

I hardly ever hear them use the C word on the BBC - more often they just laugh about it.

Oh! I dunno - there was some guy who phoned in on Radio 5LIVE and before they could use the "Dump Button" he called one of the presenters a C.U.N.T - It was very funny. :|

Pretty sure I saw OneBard at an away game in Cardiff once. He struggled to get up on to the kerb. Needed a small ladder.
