So...clap the lads round please.
We would need to be at Villa Park to clap those responsible for us getting 4th place

Ouch, but very true sadly. Villa capitulated.
Sorry but I don't suscribe to that at all, and to be honest I'm fed up hearin it Villa played out of their skin for the first two thirds of the season and won numerous games 1 nil and rode their luck into the bargain, resulting in numerous threads earlier this year on that very issue, but lacking experience then inevitably ran out of steam just as we did the year before!

We have had a disappointing and frustrating season but there is way too much negativity to the extent even when we do achieve somethin it's down to someone else bein more crap than we were, do you think ManUre fans are sayin that???

If L'pool hadn't drawn a shitload of games when they had the chance to show Utd a clean pair of heels or they hadn't failed to capitilise on Utd losing 3 in a row at a time which could've hardly been more critical then the Mancs would not be Champions!

The fact of the matter is this and there is no gettin away from it, we can not currently compete with any of the rest of the top 4 when it comes to transfers and wages, so the only way we stand a chance of success is to try and do it a different way which AW has and everybody knows this or should realise this, especially Gooners!

Now last year we came very very close to winnin the league and how momentous would that have been against Utd and the Chavs and all their financial power, even Stan Collymore who's hardly one of our favourites actually went out of his way on TalkShite to say that he considered AW to be a very unlucky manager!

And think about it how often when it really counts ie FA Cup final (Henchoz) Uefa Cup final (Nayim) Paris (Ref) 50th game (Riley) do we get the rub of the green - things that can turn tight games and seasons nearly always go against us???

AW has made mistakes he has admitted making mistakes, but when you have formulated a plan to succeed you can't give up every time you get a knock particularly when the plan itself requires patience due to the age of the players involved, but that youth and the experience they've gained in the past couple of years will serve the club for years to come and hopefully set the trend for the future!

I think that anyone who thinks that AW should go now needs a reality check about the standard of clubs we finished behind, and remember that he is with out a shadow of a doubt an extremely clever individual, who changed the face of the game in this country forever and when the rest caught up and overtook us purely down to spending money they don't have (which is a compliment in itself) he then tried to stay ahead again by going down the Ajax route!

I believe he will have learned a lot from his "failed experiment" but IMO it is still the direction in which we should be heading to keep the club competitive without bein Chavski, it's just all about getting the balance of the team right, but just as a thought look at Spain for the way a small but quick and skilful team can become world beaters!
Extremely Well Said BB

I'm sure we ALL feel the pain and disappointment at how this season has turned out, but just as BB has correctly pointed out - 'how often do we get the rub of the green' - and that's not jsut on the pitch - Last season the team gelled in a way that really did take my breath away - we were taking on all comers - and playing the kind of football that has become OUR 'Trademark' - then greedy bollocks flamoney wants out - Hleb bottles it and goes for a quieter life in Barcelona lying TWAT! - and the 'plan' which AW had almost realised - was suddenly shot to pieces - Gilberto went before flamoney did his disappearing act - and so we were left with Mid-field players whom AW thought he had at least another 2 - 3 seasons to get ready....
The brilliance of Adebayor - who was scoring Stunning Goals for fun - suddenly has gone very dim - and IMO part of the reason for that has been the booing he received - Yes, he was a fucking idiot to try and play the transfer / give me more money game, but it's not unusual for a player who is excellent on the pitch, to be less than articulate off the field... - Don't know about you but if my own supporters were booing me - I'm gonna think what the FUCK!? - It's bound to affect his confidence and so his play...
Gallas throws a tantrum - which greatly affects the team's confidence - Just as it did when he spat his dummy out at Birmingham...Cesc is made Captain - then gets injured....Don't know - But I see some sort of pattern / negative cycle developing here! - then just as we get ready for the big games FA Cup/CL semi's gallas is out, the whole defence (except for Kolo) gets injured - and so it goes.....

AW is looking to not only compete NOW! - But to do it in a way where we will have a truly awesome team in the future for years to come - He cannot help it of there are those greedy twat players who fuck up the plan he has put together!

If anyone has told me Song would be candidate for a Top Mid-Field player last season I'd have told em to Fuck Off!...But Look at what's happened - Okay it IS early days...but he realy has stepped up several notches these past two months...

I'm as frustrated and hurt as much as the next Gooner - But I still have Faith in AW and his plan/policy etc.....I bet he's hurting too!

He KNOWS better than any of us the mistakes he has made - he is an intelligent, articulate man - who quite frankly on the budget a tenth the size of the other top 3 has worked miracles and has been doing so for some time - we HAD to move to a bigger ground - We have to pay for that - and go without what the others are hocking their souls for - the Quick Fix and expensive players - I just hope those who have been vitriolic and said all the crap about getting rid of AW or giving him one more year etc - will have the guts to admit their lack of belief and ability to grasp what he (AW) see's and knows is clearly possible....He WILL succeed as will Arsenal!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

There is No One Else Who is capable of managing the club under its present situation - If and when AW goes - the whole style of what we have been priviliged to watch - The Beautiful Game - is gong to change - But the financial constraints will still be there for some time yet....we can only hope that AW does indeed stay on and (eventually) bring in someone who can match his vision and genius, and so take the reigns when he does bow out.

Arsene Wenger knows only too well the mistakes he has made and those forced upon him - he is Under BIG pressure so I would suggest (seeing as he already knows how pissed of some Gooners are) that we get behind him - I try not to turn my back on someone when they're going through the mill and need of support!...but hey! what the fuck do I know!?

Well said, i'll be singing my heart out for ARSENAL tomorrow.

Not Arsene, Not the individuals, but the shirt.

And whilst I accept everyone makes mistakes and it is perhaps unrealistic to expect him to continue to find the Vieira’s and Henry’s of the world at low prices, what I can’t accept is the poor attitude of the players he does put on to the football pitch.

There was a time when the players played with passion and pride, were born winners and didn’t mind sticking it to the opposition. We would thrive in adversity.

Not any more. When we step against United tomorrow, I’d rather see a mass brawl on the pitch, with our players right in Rooney/Ronaldo’s faces ala Keown and Vieira from the past, as opposed to passing it round for 20 minutes, going a goal behind, heads dropping and being the support cast for a title party. At least it would show that they are hurting and won’t just accept being second best without a fight.

Now that is a top post 8) It isnt a case of not winning trophies at all but it is simply a case of this team and squad regressing and not progressing :( I am sick of some fans pointing to the quality of football we play as something to wave in the opposition fans faces - we were not built on total football but we made our name with tough teams who gave 100% every single game no matter how good or bad a player they were and they certainly didnt back down in the face of adversity. This team, that wenger alone has put together, have largely shown themselves to be arrogant and spineless when it comes down to the crunch and wenger mollycoddling them and blaming it on the fans is not going to turn it around or change their mentality

Top posts from both of you here. It's not the fact that we hav'nt won a trophy again, it's more to do with the attitude of the players and the fact that the ones who would be prepared to go toe to toe with the manc vermin tomorrow can be counted on the first three fingers of my right hand and that's being generous due to the friday night relaxing beers  :banghead: Lesser talented palyers that we've had over the years would have sweated blood and matched the mancs kick for kick and foul for foul not to be embarrassed by the fuckers tomorrow, yes they might have lost but they would have gone down fighting for the cause and been able to look us in the eye and say they gave it their all. Tomorrow will just be a manc promenade to the title with no obstacle from us and how much will we care? No I spose our players will just clap politely at the end and think about where they can get a better wage packet during the summer while professing their undying loyalty to The Arsenal  :banghead:

Are you Tottenham in disguise ? That's what I have to say to all those so-called Arsenal "fans" who inhabit the darker recesses of this forum. You snipe, you whinge, you moan, you give no credit and you can't see beyond your own keyboard. You don't know what it means to support a club. You've grown fat on the success of the early Wenger years and you can't hack it when we don't win anything. If that's you can I suggest you hand back your membership and, if you have to moan at something in life, go and do it at White Hart Lane or Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal fans are beginning to brown me off big time. Most of them put in as much effort to a game as Adebarndoor on a bad day. I have no liking whatsoever for Leeds but all respect to the fans for staying on and cheering their team like crazy after losing to Millwall. That's support, not some pathetic protest because your team finished fourth in the most competitive league in the world. Why don't you grow some balls and show what it means to support a team ?

Oh God this is so fucking boring. As has been said a thousand million fucking times we are all gooners and want what's best for the club. You think the sun shines out of his Arsene, a lot of us are doubting it now. Who's right who's wrong? it doesn't make any of us a better or worse gooner, so if that is really the way you feel mate, JUST FUCK OFF. After 40 years I don't need to be told I don't know how to support the club. HOW FUCKING DARE YOU.

Erm... ok, but how are you going to convince the thousands of early leavers to stick around until the final whistle?? :?

Seriously, though... I think it's a bad idea.

If you don't feel like clapping Ade, Diaby or Wenger (I know I don't!) then clap Theo for his attitude, and the way he goes to the Arsenal fans after away games...

Applaud Song & Almunia for their vast improvement...

Applaud Eduardo for his battle against injury...

Applaud Nasri, Sagna and Clichy for the dignified way they just get on with things and always put in effort...

Applaud Cesc for his commitment to Arsenal, and perhaps even to convince him to stay...

Applaud Van Persie and Toure...

Applaud Bendtner, Denilson and Eboue for showing HUGE character in brushing off the boos and negativity and getting on with things...

And applaud ARSHAVIN for giving us HOPE!

What I'm saying is that you shouldn't let the anger you feel towards a minority of the players be felt by the rest of the team... that wouldn't be fair. Most of them are young honest lads and need our support.

Yes, make your opinons known, yes accept if someone else's is different to your own - but we are Arsenal Supporters, we should support the team through thick and thin. I personally think a lot of players deserve some credit - Almunia, Denilson, Song Nasri, Bendtner, Van Persie and the like have all stepped up to the plate this season - yes we know we should have bought someone in to replace Flamini but thats gone now and the boys who have stepped up have, in my opnion, done everything they can for the club - whatever you think of their ability I have seen desire and commitment from them.

I say against Stoke we make it a cracking atmosphere, have some fun and farewell to another season.

I didnt say walk-out during the game i said after the final whistle before the team did a lap of honour.Tell me how else we are supposed to show our displeasure
so everytime you climb off the missus you would be happy if she just got up and walked out  just kidding

You're right Chippy it does get boring and I noticed you were also starting to get hacked off yesterday because of this, I made this very point a couple of weeks ago on the "I hate Gooners" thread where I said altho I don't necessarily agree with peeps who say "you're no supporter fuck off and be a Chav fan" etc etc I understand why they are saying it!

Augie then basically replied "well I don't BB" so I responded by saying it's because the peeps who are seen as pro AW are a bit more patient and prepared to give him more time are also getting pissed off at why the anti-AW brigade can't see that we are operating under a different set of rules to the other 3 and in losing to the Chavs and Utd we are in effect losing to probably currently the two strongest clubs in world football

While they enjoy unlimited resources we've undertaken a massive but necessary financial project that has given us the new stadium but unfortunately has been hindered by the recession keeping funds tied up further compromising our spending plans and the fact that since the plans for The Grove were conceived, the financial side of football has changed beyond all recognition!

Now Chippy you sound about the same age as me and I respect you 100% and understand you taking exception to someone tellin you where to go when you've supported the club thru thick and thin before spanning a 40yr period, but times have changed GG never had to put up with the likes of free spending oil magnates and the financial juggernaut that Manchester Utd have become!

I also addressed the current popular opinion that AW is losing or has already lost the plot by comparing it to (and I hope you remember this Chippy) when ManUre only delivered a CC in a two year period Mancs were sayin the same thing about Ferguson and saying he was past it, and I can clearly remember the footage of fans standin up and openly abusing him in the dugout!

No-ones tellin him to fuck off now are they??? and the simple reason why is cos he's been given a shitload of money to effectively steamroller the rest of the league just as the Chavs did under Mourinho.....................

the message from the terraces??? - deliver trophies or else you'll be labelled a useless ol *word censored* even tho you're the most successful manager the game has ever seen!

Now all this money has been put at his disposal by the Glazers who clearly have no scruples whatsoever about puttin the very exsistence of the club at risk, as no matter how much money Utd earn which is a LOT they're still not servicing the debt and the honeymoon period is coming to an end.................

the message from terraces??? you can drive our "beloved" club into the ground for no other reason than your own ends, but as long as you deliver trophies we'll say absolutely nothin - You see my point Chippy??? unbelievable when you think about it isn't it

If everyone was serious about making a protest towards certain players then the club themselves give us the perfect opportunity.

I have said this before and it is quite simple. When they do the daft team announcement stay silent for the players surname!

Number 25 Emmanuel............SILENCE!

Now that would have an impact.

As someone else has said it is totally unfair to lumber all the players together.

Some, not many but some, have individually done well.

percy - how right you are.

just stay silent when they call out no 25 emmanuel..........

that way we can show him that he is not loved, not wanted and not good enough for our beloved team

but the others we need to show support and tlc (after all they are only babies!!!!)

It will be very interesting to see if the Greedy One appears at the match next Sunday. My prediction is that the mysterious injury will still keep him out with some bollocks about him being sent away to some clinic in Europe somewhere for "rehab"
