totally disagree augie - this is emotional not seeing wood for the trees
the big issue for decisions about next season is where we are
not how we get there

baffling managerial decisions, record breaking defeats, etc etc.....
Yea. Lets just forget all about it. Lets not learn anything again.
Lets just do it all again next season

I have no doubt RvP loves the club - but in the cold light of day why would he stay ? I sincerely hope he does but if not I wish him nothing but well
Re: The End of the World as We Know It...RVP off?
Yes he does love Arsenal.Like Vieira Henry and Cesc love Arsenal. But how are we going to give him titles and the CL?thearse wrote:Personally I think he will sign if we qualify for the champions league and Arsenal offer him a very decent wage. I do get the impression he loves the Arsenal.
We all know Arsenal are a business and if an offer comes in of £35m plus when he has 1 year left there is no way we wont sell.Remember the bullshit from Wenger last summer when he said we would keep Nasri for his final year.Arsenal have been a selling club for years.

Yep, I agree.
I recall the quote from earlier in the year that 'it is imperative, each season, to show a profit of 15-20 million pounds'.
So, if we FAIL to finish third (forgetting the perms of finishing 4th) then he has to let RVP go imho.
Business as usual.
Re: The End of the World as We Know It...RVP off?
Really makes me laugh when I hear people say:
"We need CL football. RVP will stay if we get CL football".
If RVP merely wanted "CL football", then he could go sign for Olympiakos, Sturm Graz, Partizan Belgrade or APOEL.
Erm the point is, RVP wants to WIN the CL. " Qualifying" is a moot point. After all, Arsene the genius couldn't get as far as APOEL in this season's CL. Wake up, VP wants to win things. Our fanbase is so comically deluded it's untrue...

makes me laugh when I see Baborietiya 'quote' his comically deluded imaginary friends
no matter what you post its not impossible that RVP stays
he hasn't made his mind up yet
and Babs, no matter how much you try, no matter what strawman statements you put in fantasy Gooners mouths
you can't actually make other peoples minds up for them

And I am not disagreeing with that at all and it actually bears out what I am saying in that, rvp will not just look at qualifying for next seasons champs league but will look at the bigger picture as regards where this team is and where it is going and if he does that then we know that he wont come to a good decision for us

Re: The End of the World as We Know It...RVP off?
Exactly Augie , he will look at the team and where it is going , the same as Henry ,Vieria, Fabregas ,Nasri etc did. There is no reason to suggest our transfer policy will change , so why would he want to stay. You can give me all of that 'I love the club' and I am sure he does but he is 29 wants to win trophies and with one last contract available can double his money.
Now if the fat Russian came in that is a different matter and a existing post

with a team he believes can win things - for which we need minimum one new body in every position

RVP staying I reckon.
Re: The End of the World as We Know It...RVP off?
Not going by his interview on motd last night he aint - of course the interview could all be a smokescreen to see if we will buy the much needed quality or a ploy to draw out the interested clubs into the open so he can assess his options before making his decision but have to be honest here, all the soundbites coming from the man do not look promising
2 Quick questions for any of the akb on here :
1. If rvp went to wenger demanding that he buy quality players or else he will refuse to sign a new deal, do you think that will make any difference to wenger's summer planning ?
2. If rvp does f**k off will you still stand loyally alongside a man that has continually seen his best players walk out of our club and away from his project for the past few years ? So many times in recent years we have heard the comments that if wenger left then so would our best players but if rvp left none of our top quality players will be left and the loyalty from his players has long since worn out
I think that I asked question 1 last season re cesc and now, just as I did then, I dont feel that such a demand would make any difference to wenger and the way he operates. Rightly and wrongly he feel's untouchable at the club and until somebody above him at the club grows a pair and starts to pull him up on his continued mis-management then that aint gonna change
Likewise I dont think it will matter to most of the akb if rvp,wilshire,sagna,tv5,kos and the ox all grew disillusioned with wenger and left cos their loyalty is and always will be to wenger first and foremost

I think if van Persie gets a good offer from an ambitious club he should take it.
A little bit of me does believe he owes us something more than this season, but in reality this is football, and in particular this is Arsenal.

As I said, he has every right to play hard ball. He will NOT state he is staying, as it would weaken his negotiations. People need to stop assuming things and just wait. RVP is a husband and a father first, there is more to it than simply wanting to win things.

Re: The End of the World as We Know It...RVP off?
I think he'll stay
I hope he'll exert a little pressure that we build a competitive team
we have a lot of bodies to fill the first 2 of our midfield slots:
1 Song Coquelin Frimpong
2 Arteta Wilshere Diaby
it's the third
3 Rosicky (presumably Yossi goes now)
that we're weakest in
Goetze, Hazard, Kagawa or Sahin maes more sense than M'Vila
I also think RVP can play deeper so buying another striker makes sense
we have a lot of players, I said we need a player in every position,
of course we will need a back up GK when Flappy and Almunia go
I still have fears at LB
but think it's up top where I would invest any capital/wages we can generate out of
Almunia, Flappy, Squillaci, Denilson, Vela, Bendtner
+ whatever we paid Yossi (who was immense at the Hawthorns)
