Red that is rubbish. on papaer yes 3rd spot is great.

However we should be 9 points clear of 3rd and had this wraped up a few games ago.

Its not good enough in the slightest and doesnt show us in a good light due to our terrible form the money end of the season.

Things need to change so not more of the same at all

There is no hunger there to win titles. That comes from the top. That comes from Wenger. 4th is good enough and the players know it. How do you expect them to be motivated to win the title? It makes no difference to their wages and even the boss isn't setting winning trophies as a target. If your boss at work asks you to hit an income target of "x", you hit it, or you're out of a job. If the title is not a target, why are we surprised that there is no desire to win it. This team bottles it repeatedly when the chips are down. It is not a one-off, it's a 20-30-off. It happens so often you have to question the team's professionalism. Being a professional sports-person is about winning. This team (barring 4-5) are not winners. It's one big mess. It will not change until Wenger leaves.
Absolutely spot on. Until Wenger leaves it will be more of the same.

It is beyond belief that there are still people who think Wenger will deliver. Truly astonishing. Cannot even sort out our defence.
you are forgetting one small fact - that he IS delivering.
3rd place with one game to go is fantastic, never thought that this season would be so good and it will only get better next season
He's only making up for his own misdemeanors though, since 04 the squad has got worse every season. If we don't replace him I think this backwards trend is only going to continue, we did once challenge for trophies.

Says the man who was posting threads saying that if he doesn't finish top four he should resign. So it all depends on the West Brom result then Red? One game is the difference between glory and failure eh?

We could lose to West Brom 1-0, Spurs and Newcastle draw and Wenger has delivered.

Lose to West Brom 1-0, and Spurs and Newcastle win and he should resign.

Have I missed something?

Nothing being twisted Red. You actually set up the thread and your opening post in response to the question of if we fail to make the Champions League was as follows:

"should Wenger resign?

I think he probably should. the top 4 is obviously the bare minimum required and something that I have fully supported him in achieving this season. Failure to do qualify for the CL will probably result in RVP leaving though and with it any real hope of challenging for trophies next season. It may be the right time to draw a line under Wenger and then move on."

You actually state that if he fails this season then RvP will leave and we won't compete next season. So as I said, in your world Wenger's future depends on this coming Sunday. Lose 1-0 to West Brom and he could well have 'delivered' but if other results don't go our way he could lose 1-0 and should resign

we should do this, we should do that is something that I hear all too often these days

the fact is we are six points clear of clear of Chelsea with a game to go, we are fifteen points clear of Liverpool with a game to go and we will possibly finish one place behind Man United with both of us not winning anything. Furthermore their title collpase this season is far more dramatic than ours was last season.

whilst I can understand the frustrations of some people on here I think it is sometimes necessary to look at the bigger picture.

Some more material for SteveO's thread. Freaking pricessless  . Lets just ignore the fact that we are 19 points behind the league leaders and were never close to challenging for the title, lets ignore the fact that we had lost almost quarter of games conceeding 47 goals. Yes, lets look at the bigger picture. Lets compare United's "collapse" to our's last season. We only managed to win 2 of our last 11 games last season and their "collapse" is more dramatic.

Thanks for missing me guys :barscarf: and glad you liked my pics. 8) I hoped they showed that that players werent up for it as much as the fans werent up for it after we dropped 2 points and risked our CL qualification. But it was scheduled so they had to go through with it!

Its been added to an already impressive list mate - quite an end of season poll we're developing now. Not quite sure its up there with "Kenny Dalglish - Manager of the Year", but pretty close.

Yes, lest remind ourselves of our collapse again. Oh yes, we finished 4th in what had been billed as a 2 horse race in February between us and United and went out of 3 cups in a fortnight, sparked off by losing to soon to be relegated Birmingham City. Our league results in that collapse included goalless draws at home to Sunderland (their only point in 8 games) and Blackburn (the worst defensive away record in the division), and defeats to Aston Villa, Stoke and Bolton.

Compare that to United's shambolic collapse which started with being 10 points behind a team that hammered them 6-1, recovering to go first and still going for the title in the final weekend of the season. Oh and they've spent about 100m less too. Bloody bottlers those United boys :D
