Schalke Away match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Really MK? Im suprised you'd say that..... As i said earlier its all about levels of expectation Huddersfield Arsenal different levels completely mate
That's the bit I don't understand though i.e. why peoples expectations would be so high.... We hardly ever qualified for the European Cup and think we may have got to the semi (or maybe it was only quarter) final once - when we lost to Benfica.

And in the Champions League we have got to the final once, the semi final once.... That hardly makes us a Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan or Man Utd..... Talk about up ourselves  !
"We are moving to a new ground in order to compete with Europe's elite" - does that little gem sum it up for you.

I don't remember any of our former Chairmen or CEO's making false claims and raising expectations when we were back at THOF (despite the fact we somehow managed to have our best ever run in the competition whilst playing there)

or possibly not...

Walcott doubtful for Arsenal's clash with Schalke

The news gets better though with Djourou called up. Perhaps he's the replacement right winger for Ramsey as the next part of Wenger's cunning plan :barscarf:

Aaron Ramsey (Groin)
Last Updated: 05 November

Speaking on November 6 ahead of the Schalke match, Arsene Wenger said: "Ramsey (groin) is left at home and Djourou replaces him in the squad."

i reckon seeing santos out of the corner of their eye puts the fear or god in to TV and Per and that's why they keep falling over or fucking up.

with Ramsay and santos playing - easy 2-0 to Schalke or maybe 3-1 as santi will get space.

THIS is a game i'd play 4-5-1 with Theo upfront alone.

i'd rather see Jenko play on the 'wrong' side than Santos. :censored:
paper says Ramsay injured, Santos dropped.

1-0 then

Why do I feel we are about to get something out of this game ?
No matter how hard this team slaps me down I still clutch at straws and make a case out to myself that we can win !

German Bet Offices have a 4er Quote on an Arsenal win..so for 1 Euro you get 4!

So...I'll put down 50 Euors on Arsenal.....will give me 200..and also I'll put 50 on a 3:1 away and 50 on two goals by Podolski 8)
W'll buy me a trip to the the local table dance bar

Cheers,
Thomas

We've had it rammed down our throats that Wenger has got us into the Champions League 15 years in a row so surely we as fans should have ambitions to win the competition by now? That coupled with SteveO's post about leaving Highbury to compete with Europes best!!!!! We are further away from winning it now than we were when Benfica beat us in 1991-1992

and how after all that how is that up ourselves?

Said the same on here earlier mate. No logic behind it whatsoever but I can see the scrappiest of 1-0 wins for us followed up with an equally spectacular single goal victory against Fulham and the Spuds pending defeat to Citeh will mean that the Wenger garden will be like Kew in full bloom and "There's Only One Arsene Wenger" will be sung loud and proud, and Patrick Barclay will print a 4 page picture special in the Standard praising the work of our lord and master and predicting the end of the world when the Coach of the Millenium finally decides to call it a day
