Funny you should say that about the book, was going to ask if you was consulted on THE END by Tom Watt, a lot of these games i was at but your vivid recollection brings it all back.....Cheers mateHerd wrote:Sounds like your writing a book ,yes I remember it well first match of the season boiling hot day massive crowd but only announced as 50 odd thousand (mmmmm) .
People got in earlier for big matches and there was a lot of taunting going on , Some Cockney reds had got into the North bank and had been rebuffed from the back ,but went whilst soem walked round to the clock via the west stand ,some went down the front and then Arsenal started singing we'll fight you on the pitch ....... first 1 then 2 then 10 then 20 then about 3,000 MUFC came on to the pitch from the clockend which was heaving with utd whilst at the North Bank Arsenal surged forward only to discover the routed C.Reds at the front and a massive battle erupted .
Fair play to plod who managed to eject the reds onto the pitch from the North Bank then corral them back to the clock end but it took them some time .
There are some pictures of this day on the internet with some fans sitting on the roof of the north bank and some arsenal who looked more like the band sweet getting led away !
We won 3-0 and Geroge Graham scored from memory !
I think clive allen played for us at rangers, then up aberdeen which I missed ,and perhaps 1 more pre season match that I cant remember now !

Heartbreak.
My fault cos 3 seconds before Green kicked the ball like a 7 year old I was thinking if they drop 2 points here and United beat them next week.........

Fancied City today. Watching them play like they have in the first 7 minutes and it's unbelievable how poor their performances have been.

But then watch them in the last 15 mins of that half and its no wonder they look favourites for our beloved 4th placed trophynorthbank123 wrote:Fancied City today. Watching them play like they have in the first 7 minutes and it's unbelievable how poor their performances have been.

Just sitting here confused watching this. It is far from vintage United and without doubt are only having the better of this game because City are letting them.northbank123 wrote:Fancied City today. Toure just looks like he can't be arsed, Kompany is a reckless disaster waiting to happen right now and Aguero is just a shadow of himself right now. Got in some great positions and just doesn't look at all confident of getting past the likes of Jones, Valencia and co.
I don't rate Pellegrini as a manager and I never have. Tactically he is every bit as poor as Wenger, despite chucking around hundreds of millions they haven't really made a good signing in years and he has been bailed out time and time again purely on the basis of having an almost inexhaustible supply of expensive attacking players to call on.
Re: Chav$ to win PL at AG? / Atmos at Highbury
Add in Gael Clichy - at fault for both goals - and you've got City doing what we've done for years at OT.....an illusionary domination spoilt by conceding cheap goalsnorthbank123 wrote:Just sitting here confused watching this. Difficult to see Pellegrini keeping his job from here for me. No doubt plenty of people would pipe up and point out the supposed ridiculousness of his sacking given the two trophies last year but they are just going backwards under him.
Re: Chav$ to win PL at AG? / Atmos at Highbury
Dont it give you a warm glow eh? all is right with the world, NOT....
Chavs have one shot on target in the 88th minute and now stumbled over the line for the title
John Terry ignorant racist scum celebarting on the pitch for a club owned by a guy from the Russian mafia, who stole all his money from the Russian people...fuck me if that dont say it all.

Errr, `who else is there` ?
Or does that just apply to Arsenal ?

Citeeh have been diabolical for some time now and today's performance summed it up for me - I went to the local manu pub and felt confident that I would enjoy an afternoon of piss taking but boy did that backfire on me

Yaya Toure has been nothing short of a disgrace this season - last summer (with the birthday cake fiasco) I felt that they needed to keep him because he was their flag bearer and the one player that brings them credibility, but this season his attitude has stunk the place out and it has obviously caused problems within the camp, If you have a star player behaving like a prima donna then that sets a bad example and will fester and quickly poison the squad. Joe Hart is one of the most over-rated keepers I have seen for years - yes he is a good keeper but not a great keeper, and certainly not a world class keeper

Zabaleta and Kompany have been poor this season and that shocked me tbh - in recent seasons I would have rated zabaleta as the number one right back in the world but this year he hasn't been as good at all.
I have to disagree re your analysis of aguero though - for me he is the 3rd best footballer in the world and at times he has had to carry the rest of the team on his back. He has played alongside dzeco and he rivals barbietov for the laziest striker in the world
