The Patrick Vieira Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Correct, me, AT and Swale said that at the time!! (albeit i would not have been happy if he went to the Spuds, purely for nostalgic reasons!)
BDB - Always entertaining reading , could almost excuse your lack of humility. 8)

gooner88 - None of the people on those threads who said he is now shite have come on here and said he is now wonderful. Some people think he's shit and slow now and others would have him back...

  :)
I think this point is key especially went you look at how bad things have become.....
Compared to Denilson I'd happily take Shit and slow as that's an improvment!  As much as that sounds a joke it's also a true statment.
Thats so true Boomer my feeling exactly

Whether you feel Viera is up to the job or not it does pose the question...................

Why is Wenger turning to an aged and past his prime Viera if Denilson and Song are so good?

:?

i hope this isnt true
viera was on the wane when he left and now 5 years later is a lot slower and more injury prone then ever, please dont say our club will be signing a geriatric every season instead of buying players who will help us move up and win things

Or possibly; why is IWWW talking out his hole... again...?

Still, if it is true it does say loads about Wenger's so called "belief" in the terrible two...

Nah - it must be bollocks. Mustn't it...? :?

I was listening to the radio when Wright said it yesterday and he def. said he had heard from a contact that there was something going on between Vieira and Arsenal. Now it doesnt mean Wright is telling the truth but the Sun hasnt just made it up as they usually do!!!!

This is such a difficuilt one :?
I haven't seen a lot of Paddy in the last couple of years, although i am aware he has had fitness problems and that he is obviously not the player he was when he left.
But i find it difficuilt to believe that he wouldn't still offer us more than the likes of Song and Denilson, yes he may not have the legs for the all action game he once had but he wouldn't necessarily need to have if he played a more makelele like role, which is really what we need, and he has the experience and ability to do that far better than Song thats for sure. Added to that and even more importantly he would be just such a big influence on the team a true leader and we need that badly.

The downside for me is that we should be looking at top notch DCM's in their prime and that this looks like another excuse not to spend money, bring back a legend and the fans won't notice we've spent f*ck all again, to welcome Paddy back would be us allowing ourselves to be manipulated by Wenger and the board to forget that no money is being spent.
Since i have no faith we will buy a top notch DCM i would be a lot more excited about Paddy coming back than going into the season with only Song and Denilson again so their manipulation has already worked.
