Lowest moment as a Gooner ?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

For me the QF against Chelsea was devestating. All the big guns were out, we were the best team in Europe and we al;ways beat Chelsea. Great first leg result, 1 nil up, I couldn't see us not winning i that year....... I was devestated. More than the final if i'm honest.

Bolton 2-2, 2 nil up and crusing, then Wenger goes nuts and makes the most ridiculous tactical switch I've ever seen. The moment I lost faith

Was in a pub outside the Stade de France after failing to get a ticket but still going out there. The pub was packed with Gooners and when Campbell scored it was the most incredible unforgettable moment.
Im with you there - I was the o2 academy in Islington with Swale, AT and our dads and a few others - ive never seen a goal celebrated like it, it was superb. I wouldn't swap that moment for anything......shame it didnt finish as well, i think id still be drunk now. :barscarf:

agree on the tragedy of Chelski (and they've basically had a hoodoo over us since then)
and the cheating scousers (gerrard was about to take the pen by the time I'd stopped celebrating the walcott/greedybarndoor goal)

Bolton 2-2 was tragic (I was supposed to be having a barbeque at my house - just kicked every one out in a not too subtle way)

blaming wenger a bit harsh in that case - in all my life watching, playing or coaching fitba at very varied levels I've never seen 3 players from one team stretchered off in 5 mins
(+ the ref was a pisstaker at least two of those wr red cards)

Pat Jennings leaving.
Manuel Almunia staying.

Thierry Henry leaving.
Niklas Bendtner staying.

Apart from that it's been the gutting cup final losses.
Ipswich in 78, West Ham and Valencia in 80, Luton f*king Town in 88, Liverpool in 2001, Galatasaray in 00 and Barca in 06.
The losse to Chelski and McDonalds Utd over past two seasons have been VERY F*KING HARD TO TAKE, TOO, MR WENGER!!!

The actual lowest I ever got was during a stadium tour around Highbury. I sat down in AW's seat. It was really low, you can't see a fucking thing from down there.

The most (memorable?):

Wrexham (I don't remember it as such, just endured years of "What happens when you put an Arsenal shirt in a washing machine? Wrexham. hahaha")
Spurs - 1991 Wembley
Nayim
The 6 - 1 at Old Trafford in 2000
FA Cup final in 2001 (Owen, c**t)
Champions League final vs Barca
Champions League qtr final vs Chelsea 2004
Champions League semi vs Man Utd last season
That was pretty much my list, plus the lost against Ipswich in 1979 Cup Final. My first Wembley game...!! Tractor Boys..

My first ever game!!!

Post by maddog »

I started supporting Arsenal one day in the kitchen in Morecambe where I grew up. I was just getting interested in football, when I innocently asked Dad why are there no teams from London? My Dad corrected me whilst stirring a cauldron of tripe ( just a bit of stereo typing imagery for you ) and mentioned Spurs, Hammers, Chelsea etc etc oh yeah and the Gunners!! "Gunners", I said wide eyed thinking of pirates etc that Christmas I got a retro shirt similar to Arsenals approx 1970, I waited 4 more years to finally see them, my first game aged 11! We drove up to newly promoted Carlisle United on 7th dec 1974 and saw my beloved Arsenal beaten 2 1!!
