We still need 3 to 4 more. This is not the sort of signing to get the fans on side. I think as I said in detail on the first page he is a good signing

Alot of talk of Cahill and M'Vila. Both thought to be the final transfers. Well even IF WE GET THEM, I can still see only 4th at best.

Still think we need 2-3 midfielders
A out and out goalscorer
A CB or two

Wenger needs to ease the pressure with a MARQUEE signing the likes of Mata would have been perfect. Someone like Parker as well will help.

Who will we get now?> Bargain basement signings.

The fans I'm afraid are not behind "this project", time has ran out for Wenger.

When the fans realise when we lose a few more, the team is not competing we will be in crisis once more.

To be fair, this is the guy AW wants to cover for Chamakh and Gervinho for the ACN. So he's bought him for a month's worth of work in January.

But who will cover for RVP for 2 months + when he's out injured? We all KNOW it will happen. Chamakh first choice? A lightweight Theo? God help us.

He doesn't need cover for Chamakh, he needs a replacement for him.

These sort of 'bargain' signings won't win fans over. Van der Vaart, now there's a bargain!

Theo has scored to decent goals this season and was prolific by his standards last year. He's gaining in confidence , he is a great finisher (everyone can see that) Theres no reason why he won't be a top striker for us IMO.

Henry,
But what Theo needs is a top quality midfielder who can thread balls through to him a la Bergkamp or Cesc. Jack might be the answer.....when he's fit, but we don't have anyone else who is capable, and certainly not Ramsey who offers very little.

Vince wrote:He's a good player, he's the kind of striker we don't have since Eduardo left. He's a natural goalscorer, and technically very good, good passing as well. So it's a great deal in my opinion, only £3-5m, and he's better than Chamakh. You'll be surprised.
The only problem is that he's from Korea and he's got to do his military service in 2 years or something like that.
In AW's view he most important quality for an Arsenal striker - good at passing.

He will definitely get plenty more practice.

I just hope he learns enough English to know that Fucking Shoooooot!!!! is not to be confused with pass.

When I first saw this thread, I thought it was a Joke.
Then I remembered that Wenger FC (as Arsenal is now serving him obviously), is nothing but a big fat Joke.
I watch an awful lot of French football as Marseille are my second team...
When I heard about this signing, I thought it was April 1st. So let me see....
You have a club who have made £67 million in the last three weeks on transfers (Eboue, Cesc, Nasri). This cub also had £40 mil to spend in summer. This club also has a transfer facility of £41 mil from Toure and Ade still untouched.

The club has just hiked the price of tickets 6.5%. The club is hemorrhaging players and has scraped over £280k a week off the wage bill. The manager claims he is only after 'Super super class players'. And THIS is what the result is? Some piece of shit Monaco dandy for 3 million Euros??!

The other thing I just do not get with some fans is the 'why don't we wait and see how he turns out'. Sorry. But when you are paying the most expensive ticket prices IN THE WORLD, you should be signing top quality. You should not have to 'wait and see' if he is good or not. When Chelsi signed Mata, their fans don't 'wait and see' how god he is, he is proven quality. When Ash Young and Phil Jones signed for ManYoo, they don't 'wait and see', this is what big cubs do.
Then there is the other range of excuses that sound like 'he is a squad player'. I remember hearing the same things about Eboue and Diaby, yet they play very often due to ludicrous injuries and squad depth. When will ppl realise that Arsenal is now a team full of squad players!!!
Why would Arsenal be looking for squad players when they don't have serious first teamers! Playing Jenkinson, Frimpong, Gibbs and Song in CL matches? These are ALL squad players! As is Koscielny etc.

The other question I'd ask is how many cheapskate French league/French signings has AW made in the past seven years that have turned out to be quality? Name just one if you can. Chamakh was it not said 'Wait and see'? We did. He's shit. That's why he was cheap and playing in France.
Shitachi: 'wait and see'. Again Frenchman, cheap. Shit. Koscielny 'wait and see'. Highest league goals tally conceded in over a decade!!! etc etc.

It is clear Arsenal is no longer a big club for me and it makes me sad. Would ManYoo, Chelsi or even Liverpool be anywhere near such a player? Then why are we then?! And is the weak-arse French league the ONLY league Wenger is allowed to recruit from?

It's just absolutely farcical but hey...that's Arsenal these days.

If a player based in France is desperate to join Arsenal these days, for me it's an indication as to his lack of quality. Chamakh was desperate to join us, as was Squillaci etc. I honestly think if a player is genuine quality, there is no way he'd want to join Arsenal and push for a move there. That is why Mata signed for Chelsea and not Arsenal: he wanted to win trophies as he's a big time player.

We need the best. Not Chamakh and Song etc. How can any of you accept paying the prices you do to watch such bargain basement signings, all the while Wenger picks up his £6.5 mil!!! Just how do you shape your reasoning to justify this? I just don't get it....up to £100 million just sitting there nicely, ripe for Kroenke to rape this club and some are justifying such bait signings??! Oh and after pissing off Bolton and hence ensuring we have an excuse to not cough up for Cahill, we now piss off Lille thus ensuring there is no chance of Hazard ever signing!

Still. Mata has now scored more league goals than the whole Arsenal Squad put together so far. And Fabregas has now won more trophies in a few weeks than he did in seven years at Arsenal. Arsene Knows.

Now this is probably the best and most thoughtful post that's been posted on here for ages, sums virtually everything up in a tee for me... good post mate..

Edit.. don't forget Wenger buys the majority of his players from his homeland league because HE is feathering his nest for bigger things once he leaves our club either by the boot or under his own steam..

Yep, Wenger wins in every way with his situation at our great club, he fucks up, and gets the sack he gets 20 million for the rest of his contract, (a contract that he couldn't sign quick enough a season ago) now that's not bad business, is he also on a kick back for NOT spending his transfer kitty every summer, Hmmm, who knows, but with 100 million burning a hole, in his tight pocket, I know what side of that argument I'm on...

If in doubt, sign someone cheap from the French league! That is going to be on Wengers fucking headstone. c**t of the very very highest order.
No you don't. There are hundreds of examples of big money signings turning out to be duds......
and small signings turning out to be quality, EG Anelka, Fabregas,
