As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
I find finishing one on one is sometimes easier against proper keepers
they do everything 'right' narrow the angles and, eventually, go down to try an stop the ball
non-keepers can be unpredictable - scored quite a few on Mon night with pretty central shots v a good keeper
defender on the line might do better v a striker who just weights...
I don't see the 2nd as Chezza's fault
but more importantly every argument needs to be had on its own merits
not on the basis of which arguer is inherently more likely tp be right
What worries me about Ches is his desperation to be involved in the action. His positioning for the corner at 4-2 was dumbfounding. For an inswinging left-footed corner likely to go deep he was standing 3 yards out in the middle of his goal, instead of 1 yard out/on his line two-thirds back. Love that he wants to come get the ball but it left him so obviously unable to deal with any deep inswinging corner, which is what happened and Defoe missed a great chance to pull another back. It also means he starts charging for balls he's never going to get to regularly, like the 1st goal Saturday when he had to adjust and consequently couldn't get any purchase on his parry.

Sorry, you are not permitted to blame Chesney for any mistakes Chesney makes. Please cease and desist.
I've 'hissies' over hatred for Wenger, never stuff directed at me
I got stuck in goal in a Szczezza 53 shirt last week and made some great saves
am I basically now an expert.
Never logical to argue over intrinsic rightness.
Clean sheet tonight please. Need the midfield 3 to continue improving.
May throw a quid or two at JW getting a goal.

Semi-pro thanks for asking I personally disagree with DB10's point about anticipating the direction of the shot because there wasn't a need but if a left-footer is taking a corner it doesn't take a genius to figure out it's going to be inswinging, and you should therefore be standing on your line and not 3 yards out. Likewise most academy coaches I've ever worked with (and imo) believe that your starting position should be a bit further back than in the middle of the goal as it's much easier to move and dive forward than to backtrack. Varying your starting positions based on who's taking a corner is keeping 101 and hardly requires a crystal ball.

The irony really is lost on the man - look at your multiple hissies on the other thread based around my comments on your self appointed superfan status
As I said it was "likely" to be deep, not definitely. And most corners are "likely" to be deep if you start too far forward. Or you could just carry on pretending I said something else if it allows you to carry on making pointless arguments.
