I really couldnt care what age he is. I would take a cold, dead Sir Bobby Robson as our next manager and pay him a kings ransom if it meant Wenger was out.

Are we not fucking tired on dynasty building already? Let's get someone who can instantly correct the horrible abuses that has eaten the club alive for years. Let's get someone who can put the basics and foundations of the club back on right track immediately and who can get people doing right things, let it be one or two year project and if Van Gaal is the right man to do it, so shall it be then.

I still think that Guardiola is coming our way but not until couple of years at least. Wenker out now and somebody very experienced, winning manager to replace him, two years project to renew our way of working in the club and most of all, getting us back on winning again.

Dynasty was probably the wrong term to use but I stand by wanting a manager who has a long-term vision and commitment.

As much as we are all sick of hearing about us planning long-term with no results - and all know what needs to be done - it's naive to think that it's anything less than a massive job for whoever comes in. I'm not saying we can't compete the season after Wenger leaves but realistically we're not going to be where we should for 2 or 3 years even if the new manager does well. Is an egotistical manager with a reputation like van Gaal going to come in and spend 2 or 3 years turning things round and then pissing off and handing the reins to somebody to pick up his glory? Not imo, I think he would be tempted to cut corners.

Been reading the comments today and most seem to be along the lines of "Wenger has had his day" and "Wenger the end is nigh"

I think everyone is forgetting that if Wenger fancies continuing then he will.
An FA Cup win gives him a mandate to continue amongst the AKBs and the media. Supporters of all the top clubs will also be delighted for him to continue.

It is depressing but I don't reckon that he is going anywhere.

I understand what you mean and agree with you most part of it. I just think that maybe it would be best to have very experienced manager coming in for a shorter project to fix the most urgent issues and errors. Van Gaal MIGHT be that kind of manager who gets the basics right quickly (training, mental side, tactics, player transfers etc.). He certainly has experience on shorter projects but is he ultimately the right man for us? I really don't know but I would take him right away if Wenker fucks off.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to add that I agree with you that we will need long term vision and rebuilding, but first the priority has to be to get the issues related directly to the team and our game right and fixed.
