usual thread starter… “Kolo Toure, William Gallas, Bacary Sagna, Thomas Rosicky, Emanuel Adebayor and Manuel Almunia are all experienced at the highest level, and are unlikely to develop any furtherâ€
How much longer will this transitional period last? (10/10)
The period of transition will continue until Arsenal are prepared to buy in players to strengthen weak areas on the pitch and to add some experience to the squad/team. Otherwise, as players become fully developed they are likely to leave, because their chances of winning trophies will be better elsewhere. I don't blame them either - they have a limited number of years at the top and if they are good enough to play for a trophy winning team then they deserve to do so. No matter how much a player may like Arsenal and enjoy playing for us, few if any of them a true Gooners and don't have the same ties to the club that we do. As we have seen, when experienced player leave Wenger replaces them with kids, so the rebuilding process starts all over again.
I can't see us winning a major trophy this year (PL or CL) and Wenger's refusal to admit that means that we will play weakened sides in the FAC & CC, so we will struggle to win those as well. I expect more experienced players to leave next summer, possibly including Fabregas. These players will be replaced with kids, possibly from within our own squad. These will be players who need a couple of years to get to trphy-winning standard, so the rebuilding process is extended yet again, and after another trophy-less season more experienced players will leave to be replaced by kids...
In short, we have now become a feeder club and the days of winning the league are at leasrt a few years off.
I've seen some bloggers making tha point that they'de rather be in our poisition that the position Sp*rs are in,so we should all be grateful for what we have got. But the real point is that with slightly better management (i.e. bringing in the players we need, when we need them) we would be in the same position as Chelsea or Manu, with a real chance of winning the big prizes. If I was an Aston Villa fan I'd be happy with a 4th or 5th place finish, but we should be able to expect better from our club.

The transition will probably continue until the 20101 - 2011 season.
By then players such as Bendtner, Walcott, Denislon, Vela, Djourou and Song will have fully developed physically (players only do serious strength trainign and bulking up once they are 21 under Arsene's training regime).
By then kids such as Nordveit, Randall, Ramsey, Wilshere, Coquelin and Gibbs will be good enough for regular Premiership football though still will be growing physically.
By then we will have had some cash released for transfers from the Highbury property sales, if Wenger should want to buy more players.

Unfortunatley we are more than one holding centre midfield player away from challenging, A centre back is essential with AW seeming to think that Gallas and Toure have shrunk over the sum...........The problem remains, When RVP is hot he is untouchable but this is far too infrequent, in case anyone hasn't noticed Adebarndoor is not exactly hitting the heights of pre feb last season (whether he will hold the club to ransom for a wage reduction, if this continues, remains to be seen). The alternative is Bendtner, that is a disgrace for a team with supposed aspirations like Arsenal. Despite his croatian heroics, Walcott has only been effective in the Blackburn game since then, if the opposition are playing deep his pace becomes ineffective and he hasn't the ability to get around the full back, also despite AW talking it up, his clinical finishing is woeful !!
The main problem being that they all know they will play in the next game, as AW doesn't have the squad or the bollocks to drop them and that is his own fault, as we are led to believe that the funds have been available for some time.
Nasri has been the one bright spark so far, this season didn't have to be like this. Eventually we will have to play some decent opposition.
