Villa away boxing, whos going?

Villa away boxing, whos going?

Post by crocit »

im looking at ways of getting to our away game on boxing day. theres no trains! so whats an alternative? :-P

lots of national express coaches going there from Victoria to Brum new street, but last one on way back is 19:30. i dont know how u cud get from new street to Villa park, buses? i dunno, cab? but its boxing day, and usually triple rate isnt it.

secondly, im just looking up hotels up there, i'd stay up there overnight,! anyone else got plans? and dont say driving coz i cant drive

Not really thought about the logistics, quite yet.

I would imagine I'll go by National Express (from Bristol)... once in Birmingham, I would imagine it'll be easy. They'll either be running the local train service to Aston and/or have a comprehensive bus service, as although it's Boxing Day, they still have to get 40,000 fans to and from the ground and for that, I'm sure they'll have a decent amount of public transport running.

Always enjoyed Villa away... seen a mix of performances there over the years, but that Pires lob over Schmeichel was special. 8)

bloody hell mate i was looking at plans for this on friday.

Ive been to the Arsenal vs the Villa for last 6 years,

but getting up there and back is a real bloody challenge.

It looks like the club travelclub coach for all those who dont drive,

i drive but i dont want to driving. as it christmas, (booze) etc. so i dont know what to do. the train companies have really let me down

no direct trains to man city 22nd nov and a blow out on boxing day.

but somehow i will make it up there, not to sure what im going to tell the wife why im away 12 hours on boxing day, but ill think of something

mate, for man city, go kings cross - Leeds - Manchester route, thats what me and a few mates i know are doing

and g88ner, u say they'll be running buses or maybe trains for fans from Aston or Witton to Birmingham on match day?

and anyone know any hotels near Villa Park, or cheap near train station? cheers :D

Birmingham New Street - Witton/Aston (26th Dec) - 10 min journey

Depart
14:47
15:17
15:47

Only 3 useful trains on a match day  .... that's from the virgin trains website, so maybe it hasn't taken into account that there's a football match on, and perhaps extra trains will be put on :? who knows.

Anyway, not a clue about the buses either.

Stayed at a hotel in Broad St Birmingham the night before the FA cup semi against the mancs a couple of years back. Loads of bars, clubs, eating places there for a good night after, not sure what it'd be like on boxing day but it's a good place to head for if stuck in Birmingham for the night :?

I might be driving to this one and if I stop anywhere it will be a friends en route back on the M40 which I know realise is a little bit awkward on an evening kick-off. Hey ho it is a little early to be organising Christmas right now.
