Summer Slumber? Cought out over Ribery!

Post by GunnerTino »

I've just been told Ribery bought by Bayern Munich,
now don't get me wrong but wasn't he linked to us
for the last year and a bit? He now joins an ever
growing list of players that seem to be ideal for us
yet we seem to let them pass us by.

I've submited a couple of threads about our lack of
activity in the transfer market, but that added to the
quotes attributed to Cesc yesterday about Wenger's
position at the club has now led me to this............
JUST WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON AT ARSENAL!!!!?

In the space of 3 years we've gone from being by far
the best team in the land,if not maybe Europe,to a
bloody shambles!
Experienced players allowed to leave,no quality bought in,
too many youngsters playing at once, conflict within the board-
room and now a manager that looks resigned to the fact that
he's hit a brick wall and will leave after next season.

I need one of you guys out there to put me at ease
and give me some reassurance......PLEASE!

Not taking the p*ss but "Arsene Knows" is where I'm at. Because looking at it the way you just did (objectively) scares the sh*t out of me...

Please God, let Arsene actually know... again.

Of course he knows!!!

Fact is that if we had truly wanted him we'd have got him. Who said we were linked with him? The media!!! What do they know????

Ribery's lack of ambition!

Post by Rad »

Ribery going to Bayern either says he has a lack of ambition (as they will not be playing Champions League football next season) or no one wanted to pay £17 million for his services. Man U don't need him, Liverpool won't have him because he's not Spanish and Chelsea are too busy filling up their midfield with athletes who just want to press the opposition the whole game. Bayern don't even pay top money so obviously no one came in for him after his agent was touting him around the Premiership over the last few weeks.

Who wants a player who goes to the Bundesliga to further his ambitions?

Arsene Knows................I hope

In this day and age arsenal cant leak any players there looking at, if we are on teh verge of signing anyone decent it could get easily hijacked by teh usual suspects (madrid or Chavs)

We got Super Tom without any press knowledge, Denilson (struggling to think of other :) )

We missed out on Baptista (thank god), Robhino an dothers as other clubs moved in our deals.

Either im proved right and we get some out of the blue signings, or im completely wrong and Arsene does not Know

Scary summer ahead

I think the point I was trying to make was
that Wenger has got his hands tied behind
his back.Love him or hate him Dein was of
huge importance to Arsenal, certainly to Wenger
when it came to signing players and contract
negotiations.

The feeling I get is that the shenanigans that
have been going on in the boardroom are with-
out doubt having some sort of negative effect.

As for Ribery not having ambition, what the hell
does that have to do with the fact that he would
have been a brilliant buy for us!
Quick,direct,skillfull and most importantly scores
goals from midfied.

Ribery...oh well

Post by Robsy »

I wanted to sign Ribery to help sort out our lack of width.

But now he's at Munich, I've got to agree with those that suggest it shows a lack of ambition on his part and that it suggests that on Arsenal's side it shows that the club are not prepared to spend silly money on a player.

Strangely, I'm actually heartened by all this. The club are not pressing the panic button after a tough season, this is good because it shows that behind the scenes everyone is remaining calm and maybe the mayhem that 'the press' would like us to believe exists, doesn't.

Recently the papers have started to carry the same 'unrest' stories that they've reeled out for the past three/four years. I think this isn't a bad thing either - yes it's fecking annoying to read every morning, but actually it's a tired, unoriginal angle and maybe also shows that the press have got feck all to write about the club.

In Arsene I trust. We will sign some players and I agree with those that reckon it'll be out of the blue and done on the quiet. A sign of class, letting the muppet clubs out there shout from the trees about this, that, the other and feck all.

I thought one of the main factors if Ribery left Marseille then it would be for another team in the champions league (which Bayern are not) I cant see how you can test yourself in that league. I think Ribery wanted an easy couple of seasons . I actually like the look of him alot and think he would have done great at the Emirates/Ashburton Grove. But do we know if Arsenal really wanted him?? Because I believe if we did we wouldnt be having this conversation
