Everton Crowd Trouble Miscreants Identified (20/10)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Everton Crowd Trouble Miscreants Identified (20/10)

usual thread starter… Looking on whilst the police were wading in, it was reminiscent of the Italian carabinieri. Anyone actually close enough to have a notion what actually started the trouble? Were any Arsenal fans in the neighbouring lower tier sections guilty of going over the top? The scousers seemed quite keen to get into that section, presumably to take issue with some of those exchanging banter?

I’d look on ‘Arsenal Chat’ for the answer to this, but if I go there, I won’t get a scrap of work done today. So just link to the relevant thread if this has all been discussed at length there already. Ta.

Unfortunately Kev I am sad enough to spend my time on general chat, so this one might be an interesting read for you.

no-one is having a go at the main section. i just pointed out that due to its addictive qualities, it's a place i can't afford to go - timewise. i think basil was being self-deprecating rather than having a go at the section.

Has the club made any official comment about what happened in teh crowd that day. I was in block 6 so a far from it as i could have been, but it did look like proper ruck was going on and i could see objects being thrown, sadly, looking like they came from our fans, and some going the other way too.

I did hear there were a few away fans in our sections too and them giving some of the more 'family' orientated fans a bit of grief, perhaps some silly lame attempt to cause some trouble.

doesn't put us in good stead for the away trip.

I am not an Arsenal fan, infact an Everton fan.
I have a season ticket for Everton and travel to the away games aswell (including Arsenal on Saturday)

The 3-1 defeat at the weekend did not help are cause as we sit loomingly above the relegation zone, however the result was not the important thing on the weekend. The crowd trouble at the end of the game really did top things off.

I sat on row 26 towards the left hand side of the away section fortunatly underneath cover from the tier above. However it was clear just after the equaliser that things where turning slightly. Cups of god knows what where being thrown at us, coins and spitting was the main problem. The reaction from are fans was nothing you wouldnt expect angry calls towards the fans warning them to stop. Then 2-1.

The spitting continued and the everton fans continued to inform police and stewards of the behaviour from above (i must reiterate above, and that they where the main source of the problem). I was near to the divide which seperated us from you, and when an Everton fan told the steward of the misiles and spitting that was going on, he and half the people round him broke out into laughter and decided to begin to rub it in. Wrong option.

It had gone on for far too long now coming into the 80th minute, and after spending around £80 never in my life would i expect to be treated the way we was by the Arsenal fans, the stewards and the police. As the game dyed down and the atmosphere too i noticed three Everton lads all jump up in anger and turn round screaming at the fans from the tier above, it was clear indication of the spitting as the reaction was key. The Arsenal fans on the other side of the barrier along with the stewards continued to laugh. That was it. The moment that sparked the trouble. The mixed emotions of anger meant that the Arsenal fans taking the piss was just one step too far. The three where furious and attempted to hurdle into the Arsenal section which soon wiped the smile off the Arsenal fans faces. This then got the stewards reaction as he tried to keep them back. Soon after there was a group forming of Everton fans around 10 to 15 who had all suffered the same abuse from the Arsenal fans. The police then arrived armed with shields and batons (totally uncalled for) and simply decided to swing and connect with people because they couldnt do their job. A boy aged around 16 was lying on the floor clutching his head didnt even know where he was.

So the unorganisation and sheer disgrace of a police force and steward system combined with the cowarlyness of the Arsenal fans formed a bad situation.

Well Everton vs Arsenal at Goodison Park, (Welcome to Hell!!!)

p.s. Watch your Back!!!
