If AFC or AW do not change outlook manager has to go (2/11)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If AFC or AW do not change outlook manager has to go (2/11)

usual thread starter… I find myself agreeing with a lot of what’s written here. Something has to change. Arsenal have ridden their luck since the move to the new stadium, but they’ve won nothing and even the entertainment value is beginning to dwindle. The most entertaining aspect of Saturday afternoon was either Rory Delap’s throw-ins or the home crowd singing ‘Delilah’. Arsenal provided very little and no mistake.

it's not the defeats, they happen to everyone, it's the manner of them. It's the swaggering bunch of underacheivers not working hard becuase the think they have a god-given right to be in the starting lineup. AW is too loyal to his players, they get paid a bomb win or lose & if they underperform they get two seasons to prove themselves before they are carted off -c.f. wiltord, cygan, senderos, Ljungberg (sadly).

there are better cheaper replacements for the likes of eboue and adebayor out there. Just because AW found them he seems reluctant to admit his mistakes and drop them.

All managers make mistakes and the best learn from them AW seems surrounded by yes men and a cloud of hubris that blind him to the fact that barring a penalty shoot out victory over a better man united side we would not have won anything for what six years?

how long are the genuine world class talents going to hang around carrying this lot? why should fabregas sacrifice his career for Ade to get a shot on target 1 chance in 5 or six when at barca he would have 2 assists per game? why should walcott, being intelligent and erudite not think - 'sod this im off too' why should ramsey decide to stay, or vela or any of the others when there is a bunch of complacent and poorly performing tools ahead of them in the squad.

despite the thinness of the squad AW needs to develop a rutheless streak with the players. Eboue should be booted out of the club in january, with a comment to the fans that 'emannuel is thanked for his contribution over the years but is not deemed to be of sufficient calibre to be capable of helping the club win titles. We wish him the best with whatever club he finds himself in the future'

if that doesnt scare the crap out of the others then they can go the same way.

we should never have refused the 30 mill for adebayor and paid him 80 grand a week.

Why do people jump on thee back of the team at every fuckin opportunity??? Teams are allowed to lose games, but granted the manner of our defeats so far this season have been unacceptable.

What does annoy me though, is the amount of spoilt brat fans we have. They are so used to winning that they do not know how to react when we lose. Football is about ups and downs. You have to have the downs to enjoy the ups. The team do not need support when they are winning because they are already on a high. What they need is support when they are losing. If we get behind the team we can help them back on track. But no people think that booing and constantly moaning will help us win. At Stoke i could not believe how pessimistic our fans were. Someone said that Bendtner was a championship player at best. That is utter bollocks. They obviously were not at West Ham the previous week, when he had the game of his life. Players do not play brilliantly every week.

Another thing that really pisses me off is people calling for the head of Mr Wenger. Wenger is the best thing that has ever happened to this football club. The fact that we have a great crop of youngsters and we are in the top four every year is a massive achievement.

What people need to realise is that other teams are allowed to play well against us. We just have to deal with it and make sure we get behind the team so that we win the next game.

You just answered your own question.

The defeats against Fulham, Hull and Stoke (and I'd throw in Sunderland too) were totally unacceptable.

Of course we will lose games, but the manner of the defeats is what counts. If the team rolls up their sleeves and graft, then the fans will back them whether they win or lose. But, more often than not, our players go missing because they don't quite fancy it... and RvP's stupidity and selfish act, summed it up.

When the attitude of the players improves, so will the attitude of the fans.

Add the fact that Wenger decided not to strengthen over the summer, despite the obvious weaknesses to our squad, as well as his rather odd tactics and team selections.. and is it any wonder there is discontent on the terraces?? no.

That is what is upsetting fans.

In 2005 we lost to Man Utd 4-2 at home, but because we had given 100% I was not as upset as I was when losing to Stoke.

Watching Arsenal since 1961 I am no spoilt brat I will just repeat what I saw for Stoke's second goal "he (Almunia) jumped out of the way in case he got hurt" end of argument! :banghead:
