Fabregas doing too much of the donkey work (17/11)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

usual thread starter… bit of a mixed message in this piece, almost as if the author had some uppers before completing the piece! Let’s enjoy the ride? Hmmmmm. Let’s endure the slide more like.

Ludicrous comment

Pires was on the slide? Obviously you don't watch La Liga.

He continues to play exceptionally well for Villareal - a team that is now in the top three in Spain. And a team from a pissant town of 30,000 people.

That is preposterous to state - his goal record was phenomenal, his work ethic exceptional and you are saying he was on the slide in that last year? The only slide he was on was a slide tackle to dispossess Vieira and give Fabregas the chance to score first against Juve.

Ridiculous assertion. His experience would have benefitted these arrogant little shits beyond all belief.

You could probably still pick a pretty good ex arsenal XI from around Europe and England who are still plying their trade with top clubs and who could, therefore, still be doing a job for us.

The rest of the article is pretty accurate with the frustration we all feel.

"Then we shall see the wisdom of Wenger’s cautious approach to the transfer market and players wages as we reap longer term benefits."

So when do these benefits start to pay dividends? We're dangerously close to being out of the title race, although the CL is still a possibility. We're marching backwards in the League with no signs of a turnaround.

I don't think anybody is sincerely ready to throw Wenger under the bus, but he has to offer some kind of incentive for his most talented players to stay in spite of the lack of hardware. He's either got to bribe them to stay or buy some talent in defense and midfield. If he does neither, he's not going to have a squad left.

By the way, long time reader, first time poster.

Two seasons ago Cesc was playing too deep and he scored only a few goals.

Last season Flamini's workrate allowed Cesc to play further forward and he got 13 goals.

Now we have sadly reverted to Cesc doing too much work and not getting forward enough.

We need a new defensive midifielder so Cesc can produce his best form.
