Silverware?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Would you be content with just the good old FA Cup to show for this season?

Silverware?

Post by Ted B »

Let's be brutally honest, - arguably, apart from the FA Cup - every cup we are in this season lies out of our reach or pretty much seems it right now. And we don't care about the Carling Cup enough to crave it that badly anyway so that can just be overlooked although it would be nice if our kids went all the way this time.

Premier League - Lack of Depth in Quality, enough said.

Champions League - Even though we usually turn up against the big teams I just don't see our side going all the way. You need sheer class throughout to do that. Quarter Finals at best?

Carling Cup - Eventually, our kids will meet a pretty decent first 11 from a Premiership side just like they did in the final against Chelsea. But on the other hand you could say if they get to the final this time they could win it anyway, who knows? :x

So what about the FA Cup? All it requires is around 75% of our starting line up to play in it and of course a decent cup run which we can put together. Realistically, it's our best chance of Silverware when you consider our current problems. :banghead:

A club like ours should be destined for more but it ain't gunner happen unless big changes are produced. I would openly take the FA Cup this season, for obvious reasons. Fuck, this trophy drought must end.

I'd take the Carling Cup right now.

Mind you, the FA Cup & the Cider Cup wouldn't be too bad either - just that we wouldn't care about the Cider cup as much. It's just there for our kids to test themselves.

Yes, although the FA Cup has been devalued over the years for the "big" clubs so it would be a bit embarrassing to celebrate winning it when we could have done so much more than that...... :banghead:

I personally still think the F.A. cup is a big trophy. Smallest of the three granted, but an F.A. cup win is a successful season if you ask me. Especially this season.

Maybe I'm a bit too much of a romantic...

I'd rather the carling cup, the perfermances so far have earned the team the name champions

the "first team" so far deserve to be relegated with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions

Stick your FA and Carling cups.We need 4th place. We should be trying to be one of the best teams in Europe not a team winning domestic cups.Leave that to the Spuds :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I actually meant 4th place but with only the FA Cup, I should have stated.

Pompey and the Spuds won the domestic cups last year does that make them good teams?Of course not.Our sights have to be higher than winning domestic cups surely
