Lack of width haunts Arsenal again

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Lack of width haunts Arsenal again

Lack of width haunts Arsenal again
Online Ed: With top quality players, a team can prosper without true width. Arsene Wenger patently lacks such quality now

When Walcott, Nasri and Rosicky are out where are the wide boys?

Why were Gibbs, Vela and Simpson not given a chance, even as subs?

Sagna and Clichy can overlap the midfielders, but only to some extent?

Why did Wenger choose a midfield of central midfielders when such a tactic failed at Stoke?

Will Traore help out wide left next season?

Christ

At the end of the transfer window all discussions were on a central defender and a defensive midfield player, now it pretty much the whole midfield and rightly so.
Is Arsene slowly turning into the modern day Brian Clough (God Rest)??
stubbornly refusing to change as the world of football changes around him.
There are only 4 or 5 real Arsenal players that genuinely excite you at the mere mention of their names - either because of their defencive or offensive qualities. What a shame. The rest are average pish that should not even be considered under better circumstances.

Have said this on the main forum. I honestly believe the lack of width is what is costing us. What a different team we would be if AW had purchased Ribery when he had the chance.

Say Flamini or Diarra were alongside Cesc, we still would have no attacking threat as Denilson, Diaby & Eboue would be our players out wide. Its no wonder we just pass pass pass with no end product
