Wher the F*** has our money gone?????

ARSENE WENGER is becoming increasingly frustrated by a lack of transfer funds at Arsenal.

Despite being linked with numerous players, the Frenchman (below) has been told by the board that he has precious little money at his disposal this month.

Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood stated yesterday: “I don’t think there is a lot of money anywhere.

“One has got to look ahead – in the future there is probably not going to be much more money coming in.

“We have got money, but I am not sure we are going to spend a lot of it. We’ve got to continue to run the business in a sensible way. It may sound boring, but we are not going to rush out and spend fortunes on people who won’t help us achieve anything better than where we are at the moment.

“Arsene has a lot of young, talented players at the club and I think he will probably give a chance to one or two of them.â€

Fucking joke!

Money to spend.......then there isn't, board members leave without reasons being announced etc etc.

Our board are fucking us around yet again! Why the fuck can we not have a clear statement on what we have or have not? I don't expect figures but simply a clear and concise yes or no on whether we have the funds to compete in the market.

We shouldn't be hearing from the imbecile Hill-Wood anyhow! I would have thought we would have heard from our new CEO or maybe he has been removed already!

Remember last summer when Fitzman said there was £30m to spend. We didnt spend it so where is that momey?
Dont say we paid £12m for Nasri the money from Helb paid for that.

The question has to be asked would we have been better off staying at Highbury,at least we were winning things there.
60.000 every week yet the board say we are skint!!!!!!! Bullshit

Does anyone still think we dont miss David Dein?

The only way I can put a positive spin on this is

Everyone knows we need to buy, so everyone is seeing Arsenal coming and saying they are desperate, we can charge what we like. Hill-Wood has put this out there as a way of talking down expectations on prices.

The most likely is much more negative than that

The credit crunch is really biting. THE BOLTON GAME HAS STILL NOT SOLD OUT, and our other home fixtures include Sunderland, Fulham, Blackburn, Boro and Stoke. The new second strip is now on sale for 50% off. I bet they have no new interest for the Highbury flats. Also West Ham and Pompey seem to be in real difficulty, Chavs looking for a new owner, barcodes in turmoil, is this a good time to be flashing the cash?

I think we might buy a good midfielder if we can get one at the right price, other than that I am quite pessimistic.

Yeah I saw it and was going to write a thread on it myself lol

It kinda says what I said a few days ago after the Villa game. Wenger said at the start of the season that due to the new stadium and the credit crunch Arsenal might have to sell a key player every season to make funds but their was hardly any money.

Now this could be over romantic but maybe Toure wanted to leave so Wenger would have the money to buy new players????

It's not uncommon in Scotland for a player to leave their team for that reason, wonder if thats what is happening here behind the sences.

HILL-WOOD: we are not going to rush out and spend fortunes on people who won’t help us

2 things here....

"Rush out"?? erm... we've had MONTHS to finalise our transfer strategy for January, so I'm not sure why we'd have to "rush"... surely, that just suggests incompotence? Usually I would dismiss that, but after what happened (or didn't happen!) last summer, I do wonder.... :?

"spend fortunes on people who won’t help us" - well that's great... even our Chairman is doubting Wenger's ability in the transfer market. Why doesn't Hill-Wood talk of spending money on players who WILL help us???
