I take it you're referring to the 2nd half atmosphere? In the first half it was like a wake.

Re: WHY WAS THERE SUCH A GOOD ATMOSPHERE AT BOLTON GAME?

hugh jardon wrote:A constant gripe of many gooners on these pages is the lack of atmosphere at home games. Against our main rivals - Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea etc we have no problem raising the noise levels, but against lesser opposition the atmosphere can be as flat as a nuns chest. However, anyone at the Bolton game will testify the atmosphere was largely excellent.

So why was this? And was it a flash in the pan or is it substainable?

Was it due to the fact that the game did not sell out until two days before matchday, meaning may more Red Members than usual were able to get tickets?

Was it due to the fact that Arsenal supporters have realised that this is one hell of a poor Arsenal team, and although capable of beating anyone are also capable of losing to anyone, and so have we realised our vocal support is needed more than ever in recent years?

Was it due the fact that Arsenal fans are now feeling more 'at home' at home games and come to the games to support the team rather than be in awe of the new stadium and spend the 90 minutes taking photos?

Or was it due to it simply due to the fact that it was so bloody cold people had to get involved to keep from catching frostbite and 'Jump Up For The Arsenal' will only get an airing at winter games?!
I noticed the increased atmosphere (2nd half) and wonder why also. :?
Personally, I think many JCL gave up the opportunatity due to the weather which inturn, gave an increased in Red members attending. :barscarf:

Isn't that a huge contradiction? :?

Surely anyone "better" than a red member (ie, Silver or Gold) has been a member/waiting list member for at least a decade, meaning they can hardly be a Johnny Come Lately.

i agree there were moments when the atmosphere went crazy.

I put it down to being so effing cold that being on your feet was the only way the steward weren't gonna be carting dead bodies out the stands.

First 15 mins of the second half everyone went mad then we realised we were still watching the same crap as the first half and it went quiet again.

No, becuase I believe a lot of the corporate season ticket holders (ie owned by companies) opted not to attend as this was not a 'glamour' fixture.

I'm not sure this is logical either mate. The game did not sell out so never went to Ticket Exchange (I don't think) so how did these season tickets end up with Red members?

It was because we were so bloody cold and jumping up and down anyway.

On another note about the atmosphere I think it gets better when blocks 11, 12, 13 and 14 start singing. I wonder if having the so called singing section is making alot of fans look towards them to start the singing?
