The Freddie Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The Freddie Thread

Post by DanielD »

While seeing a couple of clips with freddie's goals, i was thinking, why Arsene dosen't change his position to what he used to be. When i see Freddie dribbling through the flank, i'm getting depressed because we don't get the real Freddie. The real Freddie is a cool finisher that end moves with goals and i think that just what we need. anyone agree?

I'd try anything at this stage Daniel!
It would be an improvement on seeing Freddie try to pelt it by an oppo wingback, fail miserably, then fall over and whine at the ref for a free kick. It's terrible to see a legend carry on like that. :(

I'd love to think the Fredster has a couple of years left in him but I really don't think he has. Maybe try him as an out and out striker, you never know.

Still love him though. Legend. 8)

DANIELD,

FIRST OF ALL, LIKE T.S. SAID EARLIER, GREAT THREAD TITLE. I MEAN, THAT'S ALL WE NEEDED ON THIS FORUM - ANOTHER BLOODY WANNABE COMEDIAN!!

SECOND POINT: INTERESTING IDEA ABOUT FREDDIE PLAYING DOWN THE MIDDLE. BUT I DON'T THINK HE IS PHYSICALLY THE SAME PLAYER HE ONCE WAS, AND THEREFORE PROBABLY COULDN'T DO THE JOB AS WELL AS HE ONCE DID. :(

FINALLY, CAN I CONGRATULATE YOU ON JOINING THE '100 POSTS' CLUB 8) . I HAVE TO SAY, THE RAPID WAY IN WHICH YOU HAVE REACHED THE CENTURY MARK WOULD HAVE EVEN KEVIN PIETERSON (THE ENGLAND CRICKETER, IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW) FEELING A LITTLE BIT ENVIOUS!!

I don't think there are a lot of players today that can do the job Freddie done at his good years, but i don't mind him to score "only" 10-12 goals a season. If we rule out freddie, because he might get injured every week, do you think Rosicky can fit the bill to play in Freddie's role (few ears back, of course).

Yeah, it was quick, i enjoy every minute here and discussing the Arsenal is easy.
BTW, is Kevin Piterson is a cricket player, isn't he (I thought i kwen him from cricket)? Here, at Israel, we don't really know how to play cricket or rugby, the most popular sports are football and basketball (any english team playing basketball?). Just wanted to give the english guys here an interesting fact: did you know that every team at Israel is playing in different sports? Maccabi Tel-Aviv has teams in Football, basketball, volleyball, handball, swimming, atlethics and probably many other that i don't know about there existence (looking back, it's not that interesting  ).

HE HIT THE POST - AGAIN! AND AGAIN!! AND AGAIN!!!

YES, KEVIN PIETERSON IS A CRICKETER (I AMENDED MY POST BEFORE YOUR LAST REPLY, AS I THOUGHT YOU MAY NOT KNOW HIM).

NO, WE DON'T REALLY HAVE A TRADITION HERE OF DIFFERENT SPORTS TEAMS UNDER THE ONE BANNER. IT'S A SOUTHERN EUROPEAN THING MORE THAN AN ENGLISH ONE, I THINK.

FINALLY, I WAS ONLY KIDDING ABOUT HOW QUICKLY YOU REACHED THE TON. MIND YOU, IT WAS AT A PHENOMENAL RATE!!! I'M HAPPY THAT YOU ENJOY THE CHATS ON THE FORUM ENOUGH TO WANT TO CONTRIBUTE SO MANY TIMES. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EVEN MORE.

Yes, I think Rosicky can do something similar to Freddie, but only if the right personnel are around him.

Yes Kevin Pieterson is a cricketer. He is a South Africa playing for England - mainly because all English cricketers are crap.

No, English teams are only football teams, not sporting clubs ala your example. God, just imagine if we had to discuss our teams in 5 or 6 other sports as well. Fuckin blow our brains out!

Do you have to go somewhere special to watch the games or can you get them at home?

Speaking of Freddie more quotes from him and his agent that even though offers are coming in from other clubs he is still going to keep to his contract till 2009 and looks forward to what he thinks is going to be a good couple of years. How old is Freddie because i think he will be retiring after his next contract runs out.

Well Gallaso, there is a pay-per-view channel for the premierleague (20 Shekels for a match day, about 2.5 quid), but they don't show the Arsenal that often. They're priority is to show Bolton (Used to have Tal Ben-Haim)and West-Ham (Benayon, don't know if he'll stay there) first, than Manure and Chavs, if none of these are playing at the same time as Arsenal, so they will show us.

For me as an Arsenal fan, to watch only one out of five matches isn't possible (i'm talking about watching on telly, the streams on the internet are just not as good).
So there's a pub called 'Mash' (stands for "More Alcohol Served Here"), they got a huge satellite and they show absolutely every match that ever exist, of any sport that ever exist. so if the match isn't showing on PPV, i go there.
There is also a great community of Arsenal fans gathering there (10-15 regulars), most of them are jewish english men that moved to Israel (I'm not one of them, i was borned at Israel), so they bring great english atmosphere to that place. As I said in my first thread here, when you have big matches, we can gather up to 120 Arsenal fans there. So if any of you guys come here sometime, you should come and i will buy you a drink there.

You've opened a can of worms with the invitation for a beer!! DB10GOONER was on here like a flash!

When you say English atmosphere, do you mean they shout and drink alot?

Shame you can't get more of the games on the TV. Although i am s**t with the internet, I found a stream for the final round of spanish league games. Was pretty good quality although commentary in Chinese, which I am not fluent in! Will try and locate it again and send a link if I can.

Still, going to a bar is pretty good if you can get a bit of atmosphere going.

Keep spreading the word....
