darren bent £16.5 mil / henry £16 mill

Post by nuttygoonerpaul »

I saw an discussion on ss news this morning between a presenter and a writer for the Mirror. It went something like this

Presenter "How can Bent be worth 16.5 when Henry is only 16?"

Mirror Guy "Its because Bent is still young and when you sign a player their value drops instantly." wtf

Presenter "Can Bent be as good as Henry"

Mirror Guy "Yes he can"

This is supposed to be the top sports writer for the mirror - just shows how clever the newspapers are - there is no way that Bent is or will be anywhere near Henry's ability - but - Henry has been one of, if not the, best player in the prem - to say that Bent can be as good is disrespectful to Henry.

Bent was a good player in a crap team. He is average at best and is nowhere near Henry's class.
:( :(

Jaysus. Darren (is) Bent is so f*cking average it's laughable. Who can blame Wenger for not wanting to sign UK players? The price on them is rediculous.

It's a shame, because I'm sure there are some good young players out there that could become world class with a few years working with Wenger and they are missing the oportunity.

Bent isn't one of them though. Average at best.

Bent is a pretty good striker and his addition would without a doubt make the scum stronger. As far as the price goes, i dont know if we underprice our players or the other teams overprice theirs. Its a bit of both i guess.

The only people laughing are the teams who buy players from Arsenal £13m for Vieira, £16m for Henry what a joke,Yet there are some Gooners who think we got a good price for Henry. Bent couldn"t lace Henrt"s boots.I"m angry, very angry

Maybe we could of got a bit more for Henry but not much more...HaHaHa T*****ham have just been mugged, Bent was top goal scorer for a team who scored 34 goals in 38 games not really the great goal machine of the prem, hes not even a regular England squad and lets face it we dont really have a great striking force

A m8 of mine (a spurs fan) is saying that Henry's price was a joke compared 2 Bent
Henry's talent in the prem & champions league proved 2 b needed all the time re-wrighting history books all the time where's Bent has spent a couple of seasons at clubs like Ipswich during his carrer
Jol just wants 2 spend it large & always have a replacement striker on board just in case of injury
Where's with us we have only a few strikers left & 1 looks 2 hae left (Reyes), the toher is coming back from injury (Robin), the other on loan (Nic Ben) & the other nt proven himself & the fans yet (Addeboyer)
Jermaine, Thierry & (prob) the Beast r gone nw nw Wenger must buy & i have mixed feelings 4 Nic Anelka but thats another story

They will be stronger with Bent but have probably paid double his value for the privilege.

Smacks of desperation to me 'quick arsenal might be in crisis who can we sign right now'

Jol's mum must have been working overtime to earn the pennies for that one!

I had to laugh at Spurs again today! Firstly they buy Bent for a ridiculous price (proving that you can't buy English players because you have to keep the other 91 clubs afloat e.g. sell on fees to Ipswich, Charlton etc.) and a mere 500k more than Henry's price (possibly trying to prove that he is a better player than TH or showing how we did a bad bit of business!). Then they only go and give him Sol's old shirt number (trying to banish the thought that he left them to join us).
I have said that Spurs will never be successful until they forget about us and start trying to compete at their own level. Theyare the ultimate fantasists believing that their club is better than it is and thinking that they can play the Spurs way (losing 4-3) with loads of flair. George Graham proved to them that that ideal was a fallacy and he was the last manager to win anything for them! Altogether now you're Bent and you're Keane from White Hart Lane!
