Arsenal could provide scarves to help atmosphere (6/7)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal could provide scarves to help atmosphere (6/7)

Post by gooner.ed »

usual thread starter.. interesting idea, but wouldn't a great number of people decide to keep the scarves?

Maybe we could all strangle ourselves with them while we're at it

not only would they take them home you would get people hoovering up spares for their sons, daughters, cousins three times removed, their mate who has always supported Arsenal but last came in 1964.

surely everyone must have a scarf themselves why not just bring them along?

should have provided some to the spuds at the end of the 05-06 season, they'd have been tying them to the rafters

Arsenal, or maybe RedAction, have provided scarves in the past to those sitting in the designated "Red" area. The last one I can remember was a Carling Cup tie versus either Rotherham (Cesc's debut) or Reading. And yes, I think there was a tendancy for them to be "hoovered up" for friends & relatives! The answer would be to give them out at the turnstile.

On a related point, it always pisses me off when people collect up souveniers (e.g. wigan, DB testimonial) which have been left on everyone's seat - just so that they can sell them on ebay. If they want to do that then at least make it just their own!! This is aimed at the ugly grey haired wanker who sits a few rows in front of me in the "yellow section" with a seemingly endless group of assorted odd balls who are just ever so slightly too closey related - you know who you are. You have been warned!

And lastly, the reason "When You’re Smiling" hasn't been nominated is because it....hasn't been nominated! Which begs the question, why didn't you nominate it???

Thats what I'm thinking. I know they wouldnt do it every single game but doing it every couple of games would be good.

The atmopshere would rocket when we score and the scarves go flying high!

It's hardly like they cost that much anyway there £7 on arsenal website. I bring my hat and scarf to games, me and my cousin stood up on the seat holding are scarfs up and sang the boys off at millenium stadium (carling cup final). Does anyone know Simon Hunt on the forum because he is my cousin and lives just round the corner from the ground, season ticket holder.

Scarves

Post by Basil is a Gooner »

You beat me to it MKGould. Scarves would definately end up on eBay - there are still people selling Wigan t-shirts now and I doubt they are their own.
I know at DB10 day there were people who didn't have t-shirts on their seat as someone had already taken then, which is pretty poor.
A sea of red scarves would look great. Maybe everyone could bring one on an agreed day, like they did wearing orange on Bergkamp day? :?:

Maybe you get to keep the scarf - but only if you stay to the end...

I think a lot of people have thier own but just can't be arsed to take them to games. I thought that was the whole point of buying them.

So, by giving out scarves, the atmosphere is going to improve, yeah?

Are the aforementioned scarves going to sing?
