Margarito Gets Ban

Post by northbankbren »

Basement Boycott Lets Talk About It Here

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7882687.stm

Antonio Margarito and his trainer Javier Capetillo have been given a 1 year ban from boxing. Margarito was found guilty of having a "plaster-like" substance in his fist rappings.

CHEATING *word censored*!!!!!!!!!

He says he didn't know the trainer trying to take all the blame, what rubbish, he's had how many fights in his career? And he didnt realise his raps were a bit heavy?

He deserved his ban and put a stain on his record in my view.

And he still got the shit kicked out of him by mosley too :box:

I can believe that if Margarito was innocent he would not notice his wraps were heavy, as they found two small bits of dried gauze in the wraps, rather than heavy plaster of paris.

Under the circumstances, a year's ban is correct, but there remains one big question.

All hand wraps must be inspected by someone from the opponent's corner and a Boxing commission member...so what were they doing whilst the gauze was placed there?

Sleeping?

There remains more to this than meets the eye.

It inevitably brings back memories of the tragic Billy Collins, who never fought again after a beating from Louis Resto...who had his hands illegally wrapped...and Collins went into alchoholism, depression and suicide within a year of that fight.

From what I understand it was Mosley's corner who first spotted somthing, they actually made Margarito wrap his hand three times, weren't happy, but it was fight or cancel the whole thing(which could have caused a riot) what ever was in the wraps must have been on them before they got to the arena.

I dont think 1 year is long enough should be a life ban, this sort of cheating could have cost his opponent his career or even his life.

Ban the cheating *word censored* for life

In that case should be longer ban, but Mosely should not have fought until happy with Margarito's wraps, no matter what. They could always put another undercard fight on whilst hands were being wrapped..
