I live in Hoxton and nowhere is pretentious that is a myth. In fact its all really welcoming, much more so than in the west end. You cant go much wrong with the Shoreditch triangle either. Both areas are right next to each other, just come out of Old street tube exit signposted Hoxton. Some good bars on Kingsland Road and Hoxton Square is beautiful.QuartzGooner wrote:Yes it is pricy!
I am an old man now and out of touch with things, but there is a venue called Cargo in Hoxton that is worth a look.
It is not pretentious like other places round there, is usually open til 2, and has live bands on and a section that is a bar.

Not saying you are part of that crowd, or that they are locals, but they definitely hang out there.

Of course there will be people like that in Hoxton, it is still one of the trendiest areas in london. They make it what it is, but that doesnt mean that the clubs and bars are pretentious. I have lots of friends from different walks of life/age/gender/sexual proclivity and every one of them loves staying over and frequenting the areas I mentioned. I have been to practically every bar/club and have never felt old or unfashionable or unwelcome.

Not every person, not every venue, but it had enough of them to make me not bothered about going back often, just from time to time.

Ahhh, Hollywoods, brilliant place. Used to get smashed in there when I was 16, then go on the "*word censored* hunt"... the only place in the world where it was possible to be sick-drunk and still pullflash gunner wrote:Those were the days the club to go to was Hollywoods thoughKarel wrote:Romford Liquid
