Bojinov
Bojinov
The latest link with us is the one involving Ljungberg going to Fiorentina, and us getting Bojinov in return.
Bojinov is the one that was with Juventus last season right?
Is he any good?
I personally don't think Ljungberg will leave us though, especially as he will take a pay cut to go to Italy.
But do we really need Bojinov?
Ljungberg is a wide player, who at his best is world class (we just haven't seen his best the last couple of seasons).
Bojinov is, as far as I know, a striker who does not play wide at all.
We need width more than strikers at the moment I think. Although one more striker would be nice, because we must admit injuries will be a factor at some point.

I doubt Freddy will go to Fiorentina, as (I think), he only has a year left on his contract, and at the end of that he will be eligible for a testimonial, which would elevate him to 'Arsenal legend' status, and who wouldn't want that! As for Bojinov, don't know much about him other than he is highly regarded in Turin. But who knows whats gonna happen eh?

For all he's done for the club over the years , I say let him see out his contract. He's a loyal player. Unlike some. He's not exactly over the hill (just yet) and does provide experience to our younger players, and would help them along, especially in the league cup.All_Arsenal_1886 wrote:i have read that a bid of £5.5million has been offerd for Freddie Ljungberg should we accept this if that it the case or should we keep him because of his experiance and the fact he wants to stay at the cl ub

I suppose looking at it that way then yeah, it would be rather expensive to keep him on. I just think that he still has something to offer, and showing loyalty to a great player is no bad thing. Its not all about pound signs ,(or is it ?). Or am I just being sentimental over one of my Invincibles...Leigh On Eea Gooner wrote:That's an expensive gesture if you ask me .. 70 grand a week for another 3 years or so to help out in the league cup ??? A cool 11 mio quid in wages .......

Agree with you mate ... we are not in the business of sentimentality, and clearly neither is the Manager bearing in mind the departures of Pires, Vieira and Henry.
Lets hope he has the same clinical inclination with Freddie, who, lets face it, isn't contributing anywhere near enough to warrent his inflated wages.
Thanks for the memories Freddie, but its time to move on old son.

No i take your point ... Freddie has done wonderful service for the club over the years . I love Freddie but his impact on the team isn't what it used to be . His goals & hair will make him much loved for a long long time . I think the 70 grand a week from 29 to 34 years of age perhaps with hindsight may have been a bit toppy .
I can see where both sides are coming from, and weighing it all up I think we would actually be better off to sell him seeing as we are paying him so much at the moment for what he contributes.
It would be good to see him stay the way Bergkamp did, but Bergkamp was contributing something to the team even up until his last match.
I don't know about Bojinov though. If we are getting him plus 5.5m then its a good offer, but like I said I know nothing about him.
Then again, there's no point in having the money from player sales if we aren't going to use it.
