Sell Van Persie for £10M?

Post by QuartzGooner »

Two weeks ago I was labelled a mentalist on here, for saying I do not think Robin Van Persie is good enough.

I conceded he was in a run of good from, and that he is a scorer of great goals.

Yet I maintained he was not a great goalscorer, and by no means consistent enough to be our main striker.

So, if someone bid £10M for him in the summer, early in the transfer window, should we sell him, even if we have not bought a replacement first?

Wouldnt sell him for 10, no way.

If we were going to spend the money on a replacement 25 would get me thinking.

With City being rumored to have offered £12m for Toure, and the alleged £30m bid for Barndoor, would I sell RvP for £10m? You must be joking. There are FAR bigger problems in our squad than him.

Still, it doesn't matter what I type. I imagine that he will indeed be sold, and knowing Arsenal, someone will get him for an absolute steal. Somewhere in the region of £10m sounds about right...

Agreed Tony.

While I will agree that RvP has never reached his undoubted potential with any consistency, it is lunacy to suggest selling him ahead of certain other tossers forced upon us.

No way.

Stupid thinking to actually WANT to sell RVP. How much worse would we be this season without him and his goals?

If he doesn't re sign come next August we'll have to sell him or he departs a la Flamini - for nowt.

What I'd try to do is get rid of Addy first and given that Huntelaar wants out at Real I'd offer a swap. RvP and Huntlelaar being Dutch buddies might pair well together. I agree there's no guarentee. But it's worth a try.

But if RvP does not resign in the closed season then the Club will be mad not to offload him for what they can - and it won't be much more than £10/£12 million - or we lose him for nothing, as sure as eggs are eggs.

Get rid of greedy and bendtner 'can i have 4touches before i pass/shoot' and sign a proper striker who can cause defences havoc and score 20+ league goals a season and this will bring out the best in RVP.
We shouldnt be relying on RVP as our main goalscorer as we have dne in the past with players such as Wrighty and Henry. RVP is best off the frontman creating chances and space for others and scoring wonder goals just like DB10. RVP is no where near the class of DB10 at the moment but remember Dennis played with Henry, pires etc. RVP plays with Bendtner, eboue etc at the moment.
When we have class players back such as Eddie, Theo, Cesc and a fit Arshavin i think this will bring out the best in RVP.
Keane or RVP???
Enough said

If it wasn't for RVP we would be in mid table. It would be lunancy to sell him, but then again there has been alot of lunancy from AW over the last 2 seasons.!!

The painful truth is we might not have a choice.

If he doesn't sign a new contract we would have to sell or face yet another player walking away for zilch!

sounds about right - we do have a habit lately of letting our best players go for fuck all

Thierry Henry 16m
Barren Dent 16.5m :banghead:

and we also let Hleb go cheap as well
