For those who want to celebrate tonight

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

For those who want to celebrate tonight

Post by rigsby »

I'm sorry, but the official roma thread has made me angry. People claiming 'they feel shit' after the result etc etc Drives me up the wall

WE WON. End of. Yeah they're not a great team, but neither are juve and they took chelsea pretty close. And its a cup competition. We lost to Walsall once in a cup competition, they weren't better than us! We lost to Liverpool last year being the better team.IT DOESN'T MATTER.

A result is a result, and I'm really chuffed tonight. So for all those who want to celebrate winning, post your jubilation here, we're on our way to roma :barscarf: :barscarf: .... again

Badly said Rigsby.

Embarrassingly bad almost.

Are you gonna go cry to your Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea mates that they better be quaking in their boots? Cos we destroyed Italys best (?) in Roma? On penners. Without having a decent shot on goal in the second leg.

The emoticon hasn't been invented for me to describe my dismay at your insular vision.

Perhaps you'll feel better if we get knocked out in the next round, cos its one round further  or the round after? Shit we may as well make the final again and lose cos that'll mean we among the elite in Europe? Yawn, I say Yawn cos there is no emoticon to purvey my feeling.

So hang on, you would rather get knocked out tonight to avoid being beaten by a better team in the next round?

I'm sorry mate I can't share your sentiment. I agree we were not good, but its all about winning a game, if the winner was always the one who played the best football would not be such a cruel game.

So what if other teams fans give you stick? your an arsenal fan mate, just ignore it. Who cares about other teams? As I say I respect your opinion, but come on, this games over now, we're through. Stop being an idiot and just enjoy it. Should we have lost to Burnley at the weekend JUST INCASE we loose to Chelsea?!! I really cnt understand your negativity

After tonight's performance when we barely looked like scoring, I feel flat.

The only time I would "celebrate" after such a performance is if it won us honours, or was over a close rival.

Silver lining might be that is Wenger re considers and recognises that for all their faults, the only time we should play this 4-5-1 is if Adebayor or Bendtner play the front role.

Jaysus, Number 5... let some happiness in for fuck sake!

We won a penalty shoot out and progressed to the next round of the European Cup.... I'm delighted, yet some are as miserable and negative as usual.

We all know we're not a great team, so what's wrong in finding joy in our little victories like tonight??

Will we go on and win the European Cup? probably not, but it's not a forgone conclusion. In your expert opinion, did you expect Greece to win the European Championships? or Cardiff and Millwall to be in recent FA Cup Finals? or Monaco and Porto to compete in a recent CL Final??? no, of course not; they're cup competitions and unlikely things do happen.

I just don't get the negativity.

We're not a great team.... we know that! lets accept it and move on, and not use it as a stick to beat the team every week regardless of whether we win, lose or draw.

We're stuck with this team until the summer, and that's that... lets just see how far they can get, and support them along the way.

Thanks for the pep talk, I was just about to go down Loftus Road.

No we should lose to Hull before Chelsea beat us. A real supporter would know that.

I'm tearing my hair out tonight.

I just don't get how anyone can feel flat after that :?

Penalty shoot out in the European Cup, away in Rome... and we qualified!

I know we didn't play well, but we know we can play much better than that, and with Cesc, Eduardo, Ade and Theo on their way back to fitness, we might be in better shape in the quarter finals...

it's a long shot, but you've got to be in it to win it, and thanks to some luck and good fortune, we're still in with a shout!

I'm delighted.

You know what number five, don't try and fucking patronise me mate, I've been going over aresenal for over 38 years nows, so none fo your fucking under 18 bollocks. If you don't agree fine, I respected your opinion mate no need to be getting sarcastic with me.

Plus your whole Hull dig was stupid, it made no sense, I used Chelsea as an example of a team we COULD face in an FA Cup semi, and who are, on paper better than us. So are United, so what? don't enter anything? Do me a favour mate! and btw if we lose at Hull are they a better team than us?!

Your argument is flawed in that you are saying we should be rolling teams over easily, and if not why go through? what would you have been saying if we didn't go through?! Do you want us to get knocked out? Quartz argument was him saying he was dissapointed in the performance, fair enough. But yours is just stupid.

You must be under 18 or something

Come on Number 5.... you're drunk, aren't you

Those responses are just idiotic, and bereft of all logic!

Drink a pint of water before bed... it'll help with the hangover, mate :-P

Rigs, you are making me laugh.

Perhaps not 18 but certainly a mentality of one eh?

No mate we have beat both teams thus far we have faced them.

Oh there is if after 38 years you are still being childish about your myopia regarding Arsenal. No matter what you can slag them off as a supporter. Even after 38 years. They won't kill you for it.

I'd have been saying I'm glad to go out and the performance we put in today was pathetic as I think I've been doing even though we've won. I tell you what construct a sentence out of at team that can't beat Sunderland or Fulham and I'll sing it in Rome again. When we don't get there.
rigsby wrote:Do you want us to get knocked out? Quartz argument was him saying he was disappointed in the performance, fair enough. But yours is just stupid
How dare I. We just oozed class over two legs didn't we? Do you take those rose tinted spectacles off before you hit the hay?

Yes mate Ive had a good few brews but I could see the shit before my eyes after 45 mins when I was still quite sober. It's a shame you couldn't. Still I do love saying I told you so, so meet me back here in a few weeks, I'll keep a special note in mind for you'se guys who thought Roma was the pinnacle of our season.
