BOXING - Khan gets title fight

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He's moving up to light-welterweight

This is Hattons weight also, so maybe looking for a battle of britain somewhere down the line.

Saw Kotelnik lose to witter on points a few years back and think khan may be a bit too quick for him, but will be intresting to see Khan move up in weight.
UP HERE FOR A FEW HOURS ANYWAY :box:

Im 26 and know boxing isnt the same. I collect boxing so have watched ALL the greats fight.

Each era/decade has its champions and greats.

The Heavyweight division is not the be all and end all or boxing. And due to the fact that satellite and cable telivision have beem introduced boxing no longer gets the publicity it used to e.g 60's/70's.

This means the average man on the street know FUCK ALL about the boxing scene....which is sad as i grew up in the great itv/bbc boxing days, with the likes of naseem, benn, eubank/bruno/lewis when the whole country looked forward to the weekends fight. This is the difference.

IN MODERN BOXING... Khan beating Barrera is big, and khan know being trained by freddie roach is a big deal. Terrestrial tv dont promote fights that they dont air so the hype isnt the same as the 60's/70's.

This is the only difference.

You've gotta watch friday fight night on sky.

And setanta, if you have it Steve Bunce (a gooner by the way), has an hour show every thursday that is the best british boxing news show at the moment,

watch this and you'll be back into boxing very quickly.

Boxing is still in great form.

Great point 8) I think he's miles ahead of any other trainer out there right now. My cousin used to have him as his trainer, but they parted ways last year :?

Im not on facebook so cant see, but will take your word for it. Your cousin is one tough fighter, and pushed Hatton to the limit.

Do you think he'll return to boxing?

Being a former Forces Middleweight I have had a tough Boxing upbringing.

Met Julio Chavez in 1990 during the Gulf Conflict (I was on a nice little ship sitting in the Persian Gulf whilst he came to see some Mexican boxers who had been a guest of the Kuwaiti's) when he had a fight in the December against Kyung-Duk Ahn.

The man oooozed class and was then winning me as his number one fan even though he was a light welterweight...but i remember something he said that sticks to this day.....

"Boxing sucks....it sucks because it is such a short career and no matter what happens you will always get fucked over by someone..."

The De La Hoya fights brought that to my mind.....oh those cuts!!!

Boxing.....love it

all the boxing fans on here should check out this guys youtube profile he always uploads the latest boxing stuff from the tv including Steve Bunce show

http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=WOO ... iew=videos

on topic I dont think Khan deserves a title shot regardless of what mikey mouse belt he goes for. as stated roach is probably one of the best trainers out there but I think jumping up a weight at this stage is a mistake

I was gutted when the scorer's fucked him on points and lost the fight. Yeah, he's hoping to get a fight pretty soon and end his career on a high note. I'll post when he finds out.
