Now, I'm not a Diarra fan either... but hasn't he been proved right to leave when he did?

He thought he was good enough to get in the team, and Wenger didn't. He desperately wanted first team football (no crime there) and that just wasn't happening at Arsenal, so he joined Pompey, won the FA Cup and got his move to Real Madrid where he is a first team regular.

As for his comments about learning nothing from Wenger... that's probably true, as he was only around a few months and was used sparingly.

During the summer, after Flamini had also gone, Diarra commented that for Wenger to lose ONE French international midfielder could be seen as being unfortunate, but to lose TWO was just careless.

He has a point; and it's ruined our season.

Ruining our season was not signing a replacement for Hleb and not accepting that Rosicky and Eduardo would be out for a long time.

When I say ruined our season, I mean that it was obviously going to take Denilson/Song a lot of time to bed in, and it has.

Regardless of how people rate Denilson and Song (I like them) there was always going to be a period of transition, as they went from inexperienced reserves to first team regulars. It would have been useful if we'd had a more experienced player in there too, but we didn't.... and were left exposed.

Should we have replaced Hleb? I don't know. We signed Nasri, who although on the left, offers creativity and movement, whilst Wenger obviously rates Theo.

We've since grabbed the opportunity to sign Arshavin, and I would say we're pretty well stocked in the creative midfield department at the moment.

Hopefully, we can keep hold of them all and start next season with a realistic chance of fighting for the title.

You are right, since we signed Arshavin we have looked good enough. Before that we were dismal going forward and the lack of talented players, able to keep the ball and relieve pressure on the defence cost us.

Denilson was not ready for two months, but he had some really good games within that period, and since then he has been one of our top performers.

We have to look away from the central area to see where our problems really lie.
