Freddie Stays!

Post by RaM »

So Freddie will not be leaving us as has been suggested, with Wenger confirming the opposite.

So where will he be used?

And will he get thorugh without an injury?

If he does, and can get back to his best (hes only 300) then I can't wait to see it, he's a great when at his best.

For me the only way to use him is as a back up player. He just disturb the rhythm of the team if we gonna play him for 3 games in a row just for him to get injured for 2 months, then come back play another 3 games and get inured again....because that's the way it's been for the last 2 or 3 seasons. If Wenger wanna keep him for the experience that's fair enough but there's no way he should be a regular. Play him when other players need a rest or are unavailable I say!

I cant see Freddie starting many games, his lack of pace does not fit in to the style we play. And can anyone honestly see him staying injury free?He plays 3 games then misses 6. I was suprised Arsene didn"t take the chance to sell him.Was it true Sven wanted to pay £6m for him?

Very good point about upsetting the rythm of the team JakeN13. Consistency more than anything else wins leagues. I love Freddie but he's a Super Sub now. He well deserves his testimonial though. 8)

Very expensive just to riase moral on the training ground, we love you freddie but unless you don't mind taking a pay cut to reflect the big dip in games you'll be playing then we'd love to lower the wage bill

Bloody hell Ram, you're expecting a lot!! :?

Isn't the mere fact Freddie is alive at that age enough for you? Yet it seems you want him to be at the same level he was 270 years ago!!

Guys, I also love Freddie to bits, but the only people that are 'Arsenal through and through' are us the fans (and even then, not all of them if you read some of the posts on other threads!!)

I remember Freddie a couple of years ago prevaricating a bit over a new contract because he said that he wanted to see the squad strengthened before signing. Do you honestly believe that he would not have been tempted a few years back if an A.C.Milan or one of those spanish whores, Real or Barcelona had come in for him?

And don't you think one of the reasons Freddie might be reluctant to move is the £70,000 p.w. he alledgedly earns - which he would struggle to get elsewhere - and the thought of the money he will make at a testimonal?

Don't get me wrong, even though I believe he is now not quite good enough for us any longer, if he stays he will have deserved a testimonal match - if only for his past endeavours.

I really am not a cynical person by nature but guys, please let's just stop this 'Arsenal through and through' nonsense!!

Yeah, but I don't get paid £70,000 a week by the club to prove it!!

All Arsenal 1886, you misunderstood what I was saying. This is what I wrote above: "Guys, I also love Freddie to bits, but the only people that are 'Arsenal through and through' are us the fans." Therefore I had already acknowledged my love for the club!

i'd have to take issue with you on one point ECD, I don't think that players actually keep the money from their testimonials anymore, it all goes to charity now.
