Could you forgive Thierry....

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Could you forgive Thierry....

Post by DB10GOONER »

...if he scored against us in the CL final this year?

Well, could you?

I'd be devestated if THBW14 scored against us in the CL final (if we get there). After the two sitters he choked in 2006 I'd never forgive him if he then (against us) managed to overcome his phobia about performing and scoring in big Finals... :?

I hope we get to the final (obviously!) and I hope it's against Barca (for revenge on 2006 plus the thought of the chavs having any chance at winning it before us is just too much) but I hope THBW14 is injured and cannot play... :-P

Amazingly DB10, there are loads of Gooners (and I aint one of them) who will still argue to this day that henry didnt choke in big games/finals
Personally I wouldnt want to play against the man again purely cos I feel that he would know our weaknesses and know how to exploit them. Add that to the fact that our players show far too much respect to too many players, never mind former team-mates and friends, then I would be worried :worried: As for the whole forgiving thing I have to say that wouldnt really concern me as I only view henry as a component of our greatest ever team but he was never in the heart like PV4, Bergkamp and TA6 were

players come and players go and when they go i forget them, he is not an arsenal player so no he should be now off our minds,
thanks for the memories henry but life goes on and if he does score it will hit me the same way as if any of the other players had scored it

I love Henry and he was a big part of possibly the greatest AFC team ever he did choke at times 2001 cup final and 2006 European Cup final are two big occasions but then again he did score against Real Madrid away and Inter away two huge games at the time....... As for me forgiving him if he scores against us NEVER

I'd find it easier to take than if it was a different Barca player.

It wouldn't bother me Henry scoring providing Eboue scored more for us to win.

I'd be inconsolable if he scored against us to be honest. It would just feel so alien to me. I enjoyed every one of his 226 goals for us and I pray that I never have to witness 1 against.

I;ve had this conversation with many fellow gooners over the last few weeks. Firstly we have to get there.

Ultimately if its a good game and a typical Henry special that see's us taking second i'd be pleased for the guy, i'd be gutted we lose but you can't begrudge a player doing what he's paid to do.

You would have to spare a thought for titi too, scoring the winning goal against the club that made him the legend that he is wouldn't be easy, but i'm sure it wouldn't stop him.

If he didn't walk over and applaud the Arsenal fans after the game, now that would be unforgiveable.

Of course we should forgive him. He does play for Barca after all - what would we expect him to do ?

I think the hardest bit to take would be all the crowing Mancs / Spuds / Chavs etc who would take great delight in suddenly heaping hero worship upon him. Still, that's life. No different to my dream that one day Ruud van Horseface (king wanker himself) will redeem himself by shattering the Mancs dreams with a last minute winner !

What do you want him to do he plays for Barcelona now not us.He was our greatest player who owes us nothing.Would you feel better if Silvinho,Helb or even YaYa Toure scored the winning goal? Get real

Dont think they did that against Vieria and Juve, Milan, Madrid, Roma or even Barca in the final.
Recent history shows we dont give a fuck about big named teams

Oh wow...imagine if, not only did Hleb somehow get on the pitch for Barca against us in the CL final...but then HAD A SHOT...and managed to SCORE THE WINNER...

It would feel horrible.

Henry scoring would hurt me too. Hard not to be sentimental if it were to happen. Especially when it should have been the other way around in 2006.

IF we play barca in the final and win, I’ll be absolutely ecstatic but I’m pretty sure in the days after I’ll have a little sympathy for TH14. If he scores the winner, I’ll be completely gutted but probably the only slight consolation I’ll be able to find is that TH14 has a CL winner’s medal.

For me, the guy is simply a gooner legend. If we can’t win a trophy, I want the likes of him, Vieira, Pires etc to win them.

I’d be amazed if he celebrated the goal and it wouldn’t surprise me either if he apologised for it in a post match interview.

To be fair dude you are talking about a different team with older and more mature players than what we currently have - nowadays we have a team with too many kids who have yet to prove that they can mix it physically with the best of them
